Open Book is truly the most perfect, fitting title for Jessica Simpson's new memoir.

The 39-year-old star's tell-all book hit shelves yesterday, February 4th. While Simpson made some of the book's content public beforehand, it wasn't until its release that we learned about some extramarital trouble that lent to the downfall of her marriage with 98 Degrees crooner Nick Lachey.

While filming the 2005 remake of The Dukes of Hazzard, Jessica admits to falling a bit too hard for her co-star, 48-year-old Johnny Knoxville.

"I could share my deepest authentic thoughts with [Johnny], and he didn't roll his eyes at me. He actually liked that I was smart and embraced my vulnerabilities," Simpson says in her book. "He believed in me and made me feel I could do anything."

Being that she was married to fellow singer Nick Lachey, she "wondered why [she] was open to this" - that is, her attraction to Knoxville. Simpson also writes that she "felt a force" drawing them together which made her afraid that she "couldn't trust [herself.]"

Even though Simpson and Knoxville never crossed any physical boundaries, she admits that she did feel very guilty over their relationship.

“First off, we were both married, so this wasn’t going to get physical...but to me, an emotional affair was worse than a physical one." Jessica, who famously remained a virgin until marriage, says this vow is what further solidified her decision to refrain physically.

"It’s funny, I know, because I had placed such an emphasis on sex by not having it before marriage. After I actually had sex, I understood that the emotional part was what mattered.”

“Johnny and I had that," she adds, "which seemed far more of a betrayal to my marriage than sex.” Her divorce from Lachey was finalized in 2006. The pair had been together for seven years.

While recently promoting Open Book on The Dr. Oz Show, Jessica divulged another issue she would've handled differently before she married Nick.

"I wish I would've signed a prenup."

It turns out that Lachey, now 46, had actually insisted that they have one in place, but Simpson refused.

"I was so offended," she said. "I’m like, ‘But we’re going to be together for the rest of our lives. We’re saying our vows to God and in front of all of our family and friends. This is never going to end,’ and we didn’t sign a prenup.” Being that both were very much at the height of their respective lucrative music careers (amongst other endeavors), a prenup might have proven to be very beneficial.

Dr. Oz further asked Simpson what her relationship with Lachey is presently like. "There is not one," she responded.

Both Simpson and Lachey have since remarried. They each have three children with their respective spouses.
