By now music fans have heard the news Britney Spears and Elton John are coming together to bless us all with a highly-anticipated crossover!

Since the announcement of their duet dropped last month, excitement has been rampant for "Hold Me Closer's'' release. Even some of popular culture's biggest figures can't get enough of Spears and John's big news!

The announcement had initially been reported by Page Six. The publication revealed the two pop music legends met up to record a version of John's legendary song, "Tiny Dancer," which had originally appeared on his 1971 LP "Madmen Across The Water."

What Are The Deets About The Highly Anticipated Duet?

The Blast has joined in on the celebration multiple times already, covering new developments about the single as they were released!

In our initial report, we relayed the news Spears and John had begun the collaborative process in a Beverly Hills studio, and the recording was overseen by "uber-producer Andrew Watt."

John had also reportedly been the brainchild behind the project.

"This was Elton's idea," an insider reported, "and Britney is a huge fan."

The insider also described their duet as "incredible."

Paris Hilton has long been a friend of Spears. The socialite, activist, and deejay has been in the "Me Against The Music" singer's life since the mid-aughts at least, during the period when both women frequently enjoyed themselves at the hottest Hollywood nightclubs of the era!

Spears and Hilton were memorably photographed in a car alongside fellow-2000s It-girl, Lindsay Lohan!

More recently Hilton attended Spears' starstudded wedding to Sam Asghari in June, and had been vocal about the big event's place on her priority list; she revealed she had decided to attend Spears and Ashari's nuptials instead of an event where the one and only Joe Biden had been present for!

Hilton gave "Hold Me Closer" her seal of approval in a podcast interview, where she revealed the song was "insane" after hearing it for the first time, and also revealed she believed it was going to be "iconic."

The 'Hold Me Closer' Cover Art And Release Date Have Been Revealed!

John's social media team has been on the ball when it comes to promoting "Hold Me Closer."

Last week, his Instagram account posted a text photo announcing the song's full title, and it featured applicable emojis for its cover art. As if the excitement for "Hold Me Closer" couldn't be any more palpable, John's decades-long songwriting partner Bernie Taupin commented, "Nice teaser," with an accompanying heart emoji!

Two hours ago, the official cover art for "Hold Me Closer" was posted on the "Salvation" singer's Instagram.

The cover features childhood photos of both legendary musicians. Spears' childhood photo is a photo of a young Spears flaunting dance class gear, and John's photo is a black-and-white shot of him sitting at the piano as a young boy. Both photos definitely capture some of the duo's most well-known artistic traits!

Some Listeners Haven't Been Able To Wait To Get 'Closer' To The Song's Release

"Hold Me Closer" will officially be released on August 26th, which confirms the initial speculation that the single would be released not long after the single's announcement.

Over on the ol' bird app, the hashtag #BritneyIsComing had been a trending topic on Friday. The Spears fandom have been working extremely hard to get the subject trending and stay that way on Twitter!

The lively fan response was partially fueled by the news that "Hold Me Closer" had been leaked early, only eight days before its official release.

Newsweek revealed the single had been leaked on Twitter, but there's no reason for fans to fret; the publication reported that Rolling Stone staff writer Tomás Mier revealed in a tweet the August 26th release date "would not be affected."

Since news of the track's leak had begun circulating on Twitter, the #BritneyIsComing hashtag was filled with LOL-worthy tweets from fans.

The account @britneycharts brought Spears' estranged younger sister into the mix, with a joke insinuating the younger Spears sister had been responsible for the song's leak.

A fan account for Spears decided they would preserve their excitement, and wait to stream the single next Friday!

@Britney_PopIcon tweeted, "OMG!!!! im so tempted to go find Hold Me Closer leak but I want to respect both Britney & Elton.... I've been waiting for this moment for almost 6 years."
