Florence Pugh Reveals What Her Grandma Said About Her Braless See-Through Dress

Actress Florence Pugh has gotten many comments about her body from strangers on the Internet after she went braless in a see-through dress last month.

However, the Marvel star also got comments from family members about her look. She recently revealed that she had gotten comments about the dress from her own grandma!

Last month, she and her mother attended the Valentino Haute Couture fashion show wearing a see-through pink tulle dress, which was custom-made for her by designer Pierpaolo Piccioli.

In a new Harper’s Bazaar cover story published earlier this week, Pugh said that she decided to wear the dress because she is "comfortable" with her body. “I was comfortable with my small breasts,” she said. “And showing them like that — it aggravated [people] that I was comfortable.”

“It was just alarming, how perturbed they were," the 26-year-old actress continued. "They were so angry that I was confident, and they wanted to let me know that they would never wank over me. Well, don’t.”

She revealed that the amount of attention that her dress got even reached her grandmother. “I went to see my gran, and she goes, ‘So what’s all of this business about your nipples then?’” Pugh said, revealing that she then showed her grandmother the photographs of her in the controversial dress.

“She gasped,” Pugh told the publication. “Because the dress was so beautiful.”

Many celebrities, like "Scenes From A Marriage" actress Jessica Chastain and "Bridgerton" actor Regé-Jean Page reposted her message on their Instagram Stories to show their support for her body positive message.

In the Harper's Bazaar cover story, Scarlett Johansson, who starred with Pugh in the 2021 Marvel movie "Black Widow," praised Pugh for being "unapologetically herself."

“What was really noticeable to me about Florence, and why I think she represents her generation in such an iconic way, is that she really is in her own skin. She’s incredibly grounded, but she’s also just so self-assured,”  Johansson said.

“I was not self-possessed in that same way when I was in my early to mid-20s," she continued. "I still was growing up in the industry in that time when you had to be really pandering in order to be accepted. And she doesn’t have any of that at all. She’s unapologetically herself. There’s a reliability to her.”

Pugh was definitely "unapologetically herself" in a sharply worded Instagram post she shared a few days after she posted the photos, condemning her critics.

In a lengthy Instagram post, the "Little Women" actress admitted that she knew that her dress would command attention after she wore it.

"Listen, I knew when I wore that incredible Valentino dress that there was no way there wouldn’t be a commentary on it," she began. "Whether it be negative or positive, we all knew what we were doing."

"It isn’t the first time and certainly won’t be the last time a woman will hear what’s wrong with her body by a crowd of strangers, what’s worrying is just how vulgar some of you men can be," she continued.

"I’ve lived in my body for a long time," she told her followers. "I’m fully aware of my breast size and am not scared of it."

"What’s more concerning is…. Why are you so scared of breasts? Small? Large? Left? Right? Only one? Maybe none?" she continued. "What. Is. So. Terrifying."

"It makes me wonder what happened to you to be so content on being so loudly upset by the size of my boobs and body..?" she asked.

"I’m very grateful that I grew up in a household with very strong, powerful, curvy women. We were raised to find power in the creases of our body. To be loud about being comfortable," she explained. "It has always been my mission in this industry to say ‘f--- it and f--- that’ whenever anyone expects my body to morph into an opinion of what’s hot or sexually attractive."
