Earlier this week, Nick and Vanessa Lachey appeared on the Today Show to discuss their new Netflix show, Love Is Blind. Of course, the interview couldn't go on without Nick being asked about his ex-wife, Jessica Simpson. Nick and Jessica divorced in 2006, and Jessica has been speaking about the divorce often lately as she gears up to release her memoir, Open Book. So far, Nick hadn't commented on the book yet, despite Jessica's in-depth detail of their marriage and eventual divorce. Of course, once he and Vanessa appeared on the Today Show, the interviewers couldn't resist but to ask him about Jessica's comments.

Today Show co-host Hoda Kotb told Nick and Vanessa that she'd recently interviewed Jessica for Open Book and that Jessica had nothing but high praises for the Lacheys. Hoda also asked if there was anything that surprised Nick about the memoir, but according to him, he hasn't read the book. "I'll be honest, I obviously haven't read the book, so I don't know what she said or what she revealed there. But, certainly happy for her and her life, I know she is happy for us. There's definitely a mutual respect there, obviously it was a long time ago and we've all moved on."

Obviously, both exes are happy in their new marriages and seem to harbor no bad blood towards one another. However, things did get a little bit awkward when Hoda told Nick and Vanessa that Jessica said "they sent me something beautiful when we had our children." Vanessa spoke up at this point, telling Hoda "I feel bad, I'm sorry, you said somebody sent her...it wasn't us, but thank you, whoever sent it." Nick even turns to Vanessa in the interview and asks what she sent them, but Vanessa once again denies that she sent anything, saying "I don't know her address." A bit of an awkward mix-up there!

Jessica has been getting very candid about her past she promotes Open Book, detailing past sexual abuse from a family friend to her struggles with alcoholism. And, of course, Jessica also details her marriage to Nick Lachey, which lasted from 2002-2006. She states that both she and Nick's "anxieties" about their careers played a huge role in ending their marriage. When Jessica told him she wanted a divorce, she was surprised to later hear that he said he was "blindsided" by it, because as she writes in her book: "At that point, we were not even speaking to each other."

Of course, things are much better for Jessica, who is the proud mother of three children with husband Eric Johnson. As for the Lacheys, they're excitedly awaiting the premiere of their new show, Love Is Blind. The dating show involves people meeting, falling in love, and getting engaged -- all before ever laying eyes on one another! You'll be able to watch the first five episodes of Love Is Blind on Netflix starting February 13th, and then four more will be available starting February 20th, and then the finale will go live on February 27th.
