The way this generation goes about dating and officializing relationships is so incredibly different from how things were not even 20 years ago. With the push of social media apps like Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat it is hard for everyone to cultivate positive along with solid couplings. The fear of rejection or even just the desire to avoid such awkward beginnings can keep young people from going through the necessary steps of building something that lasts for years. Could this be why so many people including Shakira are afraid to commit?

If human interaction and anxiety are not at the heart of why Shakira doesn't want to go all the way down the altar with her stud of a partner, then what else could it be. An affliction that people are facing as time continues to pass and information floods in faster and faster has to be the realization of the confines tied to marriage. For many the significance of marriage is crumbling at its foundation. The amount of known options throughout the world and the endless possibilities of people you could pass time with is greater than ever.

In this day and age why should Shakira and Gerard include the government in their union. Coming this far and creating this bold family unit without the involvement of outside forces has proved to work so far. The lack of controversy surrounding their relationship has bestowed upon them the uncommon reputation of being unproblematic individuals. How simplistic and wholesome their family seems is probably what holds everything together. With both Shakira and Gerard there is a sense of a need to be stoically private which is obviously a smart choice.

But, are they both on the same page? In a more recent interview with Gerard and Shakira the main overarching subjecting was about why won't they get married. Pique looked at Shakira with an air of hey man, ask her. Clearly he has an intense love for the mother of his children and wants to validate that with a ring, and a ceremony. Shakira, on the other hand, spoke up in a very feminist like manner and said she doesn't like the idea of it. Alike to the stigmatized version of what men are stereotyped to believe, Shakira is afraid to say yes to something so final.

Although all your older friends would probably urge you away from what looks to be an unfixable trainwreck of an issue that isn't negotiable, Shakira doesn't seem worried. With her specifically there is this confidence and effervescent carelessness. Not necessarily in a lazy kind of way, but in a “I will be alright with or without you” kind of way. Does she look to be head over heels in love with her beau, ofcourse. Does her entire life revolve around him? No.
