The tea has been spilled! Real estate is not Chrishell Stause's first love. The "Selling Sunset" star has revealed that her real estate career is not her main focus in a recent interview with W Magazine. She also admitted to the number of home sales she's actually made this year and why the number sounds low.
The "Selling Sunset" Star Has Sold Fewer Homes Than Most Probably Think
"As of June, I think I've done seven deals so far in real estate. It's not a ton of deals. I obviously could be doing a lot more if that were my sole focus, but it isn't," she said. "I try to only take the jobs that are going to be filming on the show, or involve people I've worked with in the past." The reality TV star, 41, said she's excited to get back to acting, which is her first love. "I'm actually excited to be able to dip my toe into a little acting and get something in before we go back," she said.
Getting Back Into Acting
Stause's most recent acting gig was in her partner G Flip's music video for "GET ME OUTTA HERE," where the couple got a bit hot and heavy in multiple locations. She confirmed her relationship with the non-binary Australian singer in May during the "Selling Sunset" reunion special. Stause explained it all began with the music video. "It started because I was just going to be in their video. And it's about this chaotic love story," she explained. "I come from soaps, I love acting. And with the job that we have, I don't always get to do it. At first of course I was like yes, let's do that."
The reality star told W Magazine that she still considers herself an actress. "I started in 2005. It is always going to be that first love for me," she said. "You're playing a character and you're not responsible for whether people hate a character who's really mean or crazy. That means you did a good job!" She also shared that being an actress is less stressful than being a reality TV star.
Getting Back To Her Roots On A Soap Opera
Stause returned to her acting roots last year when she was revived her role on "Days of Our Lives" as Jordan Ridgeway, who she played from 2013 to 2015. While her character was killed off the soap in 2020 she has appeared in two episodes since. "My favorite thing about daytime, and 'Days' in particular, is that the door is always open for characters to reappear no matter how they left," she told Entertainment Weekly. "In Jordan's case, death by strangulation has not kept her away."
Becoming A Homeowner Herself
One of her 2021 home sales was a very exciting personal moment in the realtor's life. Last year, Stause handled her own deal, even though rumors were swirling around that she wasn't the agent who sold the house, and it was her broker Jason Oppenheim who did. "I just got told that a story came out about my house, and it says that Jason was the agent on it and I really don't feel like this happens to men. I was my agent. I did it," she explained on an Instagram Story. "I don't know what happened there. I just want to be very clear: I worked on this. Yes, I used Jason to help me, he's my broker. But I was the damn agent, give me some credit, thank you."
The Million Dollar Question - Is It All Real Or Not?
When asked about how to differentiate real from not on "Selling Sunset," Stause told W Magazine that it's a "slippery slope." She explained how the cast has become a family, "as dysfunctional as I know that may seem." "So there's a lot of excitement about being able to do this with your friends. Sometimes I can't believe this is our actual job. With that comes the downside," she explained. "You have to mix in different personalities...people aren't getting along...and turn up the heat to put us in more dramatic situations. In real life, you would do a better job of avoiding people you didn't get along with. But there's no show if everyone only hangs out with the people they get along with."
Working From Home Is The Norm
If Stause decides to take on more real estate deals in the future, she will likely not do the work in the Oppenheim Group's Los Angeles office. "It's harder to get work done in the office now, because people are constantly in there, trying to get pictures and knocking on the door," she said. "It's very sweet, but you can't get work done. So when I actually have work to do, I'm normally doing it at home. You have to go in knowing that you're going to be shaking hands and kissing babies, because we are now part of the star tour that goes around."
In June, Netflix announced there will be a season six and seven of the show, but no release date for season six has been announced yet.
