World famous musician Adele Adkins, simply known as Adele, is ready to talk about one of the "worst moments" of her career.
In a recent interview, the "Hello" crooner shared the real reason she canceled her Las Vegas residency a day before the opening night.
The residency was supposed to start at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on January 21, 2022, and span till July 2022. A day before D-Day, Adele canceled the gigs indefinitely and apologized to fans via a tearful video. However, she's coming out to share the real reasons for the cancellation and the emotional impact of the decision.
Read on for more details.
The Show Had No 'Soul'
Although Adele said that the decision to cancel her Las Vegas residency was the "worst moment" of her career, she explained that she pulled out a day to D-Day because the show had no "soul" and "lacked intimacy." This, doubled with the pandemic, reinforced her decision.
"There was just no soul in it," she explained in an interview with Elle magazine. "The stage setup wasn't right. It was disconnected from my band and me and lacked intimacy. And maybe I tried too hard to give it those things in such a controlled environment."
She continued, "It was the worst moment in my career by far. I was so excited about those shows. It was devastating."
Initially, she was embarrassed by the decision but shared that she was proud to have stuck to her artistic needs. "The first couple of months were really, really hard. But it actually made my self-confidence grow because it was a very brave thing to do. And I don't think many people would have done what I did."
She Has Promised To 'Nail' The Rescheduled Shows
Although the shows didn't hold as slated, Adele rescheduled the shows to run at The Caesar's Palace from November 2022 to March 2023. She also vowed to nail these rescheduled shows.
"I think I'm right to do it now. I know I'm not, like, 60 years old, and I haven't got 20 albums under my belt. But I think my music will work in a show like Vegas."
The show, now known as "Weekends With Adele," is a creative design of hers that aims to make up for the intimacy that was missing last January.
"I want to tell the story of the beginning of my career to now. I'm not gonna give too much away about it, but the show grows. It's all about the music, and it's nostalgic. It's gonna be so beautiful," she concluded.
Adele Is 'In Loooove' With Rich Paul
The 34-year-old singer also shared a glimpse into her private life in the interview, stating that "she has never been in love like this" and was obsessed with her new boyfriend, Rich Paul.
She dispelled rumors of their engagement which kicked off when a giant ring was spotted on her left finger last year, and clarified that they weren't engagement bands but just high-end jewelry.
I'm not engaged," she told the outlet. "I just love high-end jewelry, boy!" She continued, "I'm not married. I'm just in loooove! I'm as happy as I'll ever be. I might as well be married."
Adele, who has a son with her ex-husband Simon Konechi, confirmed her relationship with the American sports agent in 2021. According to Elle, the pair have been friends for years before moving their relationship to a romantic one.
Adele Wants More Kids
Adele revealed that she had plans to have more kids–after she ensures the success of the upcoming Vegas residency.
"I want more kids," she said, per Today. "I'm a homemaker and a matriarch, and a stable life helps me with my music. But right now, all I got in my brain is Vegas. I want to f--king nail it."
The "Easy On Me" singer has spoken about motherhood before. During an interview with BBC's "Desert Island Discs," the singer opened up about how wonderful it'd be to have a bigger family.
"I definitely would like a couple more kids," she explained. "It would be wonderful if we can. If not, I've got Angelo. I just want to be happy."
