Taylor Swift Could Get An Oscar Nomination For 'All Too Well: The Short Film' 

Songwriting genius and iconic musician Taylor Swift's "All Too Well: The Short Film" is reportedly eligible for Oscar nomination.

Released both theatrically and on YouTube in November last year, Swift's short film, which also starred the singer, garnered critical acclaim from critics and fans alike for its detail-oriented narrative, screenplay, and its well-paced cinematography.

The film premiered alongside the re-release of her album "Red" late last year. It was inspired by Swift's song of the same name and was written and directed by the artiste. Most recently, "All Too Well: The Short Film" has qualified for Oscar consideration for the Best Live Action Short.

Per TheHollywood Reporter, Taylor Swift's directorial debut, "All Too Well: The Short Film," is in the running for an Oscar nomination next year. Her film comes under the Oscar category named the Best Live Action Short, which recognizes film projects that run for 40 minutes or shorter.

The nomination marks the singer's first Oscar-worthy movie, and if it lands a nomination, it will put the singer on track for an EGOT. Swift has reportedly engaged a top consulting firm to manage the film's award push which means she fancies her chances of sweeping home the top prize.

"All Too Well" has been speculated to face competition from Kendrick Lamar's "We Cry Together" when the nomination list is released. The rapper and Taylour Paige star in the six-minute video, which is the visual accompaniment to the same-titled song off Kendrick Lamar's fifth studio album, "Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers.

Swift's romantic drama centered on the lives of a couple whose topsy-turvy relationship ultimately breaks down. Sadie Sink portrayed the female lead in the movie, while Dylan O'Brien played her love interest.

Several sequences in the film were inspired by the lyrics of her hit song "All Too Well," which features in her re-released album, Red (Taylor's Version), and got originally released in October 2012. The song is heard playing in the background throughout the film, except during a scene where the couple was arguing.

Swift also plays the elder version of Sink's character as the story flashes forward 13 years in the movie. She is now a novelist and was seen giving a reading from her book, All Too Well, as the camera pans towards O'Brien's character looking through the window.

Apart from playing a role in the film, Swift also wrote and directed the 14-minute video set, which Saul Projects and Taylor Swift Productions produced. The film was screened at the AMC Lincoln Square from November 12 – November 18, 2021, in front of music critics, journalists, and a selected number of fans.

Following the premiere, the movie had a limited theatrical release in major cities. It was also released on YouTube and has since garnered over 70million views. On June 11, 2022, the film screened at the Beacon Theatre in New York City, with Swift, Sink, and O'Brien in attendance.

"All Too Well: The Short Film" is also in the running for other prestigious awards, including the MTV Video Music Awards, where it has been nominated for Video of the Year, among other nominations.

Swift previously appreciated her fans for the success "All Too Well" has received since its release years ago. She subtly hinted that her fans' passion inspired her to make a follow-up video for it as she released the re-released "Red."

"A record label didn't pick this song as a single. We never made a video for it. This was a song that started out as a song on the album, just a simple track 5," she said during her performance at the AMC Lincoln Square following the film's screening (via People.)

She added: "And you went and turned it into what it is now. It started out as a song that was my favorite. "It was about something very personal to me. It was hard to perform it live. Now, for me, honestly, this song is 100 percent about us, and for you."
