Reality star Joe Gorga and his wife Melissa Gorga are finally speaking out about the truth behind their decision to skip Teresa Guidice‘s wedding to Luis Ruelas. Joe and Guidice are siblings, yet nobody in his and Melissa’s family attended the wedding.
Guidice married Ruelas on August 6th, in a beautiful ceremony held in East Brunswick, New Jersey. At their wedding, they made a toast to those who had supported them, and Guidice emphasized that they were her “chosen family.”
Melissa and Joe didn’t share the full details of what happened between them and Guidice, but they did drop several juicy hints. Sources had previously confirmed to People that the couple would skip the wedding, revealing that Guidice had betrayed them.

Joe Gorga And His Wife Melissa Explained Their Decision
In the recently released episode of the “Melissa Gorga On Display” podcast, Melissa featured Joe, and they finally spoke about their decision to skip Guidice’s lavish wedding. She said, “I will let all my listeners know this: obviously, there was something that went down at the [season 13] finale of filming The Real Housewives of New Jersey.”
“Those exact details I obviously cannot say today,” she continued, Anything that we have filmed is something that I am not able to talk about.” Melissa then confirmed to her listeners that the “full entire story” of what happened between them and Guidice is still private knowledge but that a few “drips and drabs” have surfaced.
The 42-year-old explained that there were many reasons why it would have been weird for her and Joe to attend the wedding. She said, “I’m not going to sit here and say that there wasn’t drama, that it wasn’t crazy. Yes, there was a little aggression from certain people that could’ve been a little scary.”
Joe Gorga Said It Was A ‘Devastating’ Decision
Joe also spoke during the podcast, saying that the decision to skip the wedding was “so, so hard” for him, especially because Guidice is the last member of his close family still alive.
He said, “To me, it was devastating. It really was. It was one of the hardest days of my life. It was bad. But listen: let’s go back to the reunion. She did this, you know? This was all on her. This is what she really wanted. She didn’t want [Melissa] in the wedding, she didn’t want any of my children in the wedding, she barely wanted me.”
He complimented Guidice and Ruelas’s ceremony, saying, “It looked like an amazing wedding; it really did. It sucked that we weren’t there for many reasons.” Sources had previously confirmed to People that the couple would skip the wedding, revealing that Guidice had betrayed them and they were done with her.
The source said, “Teresa betrayed them in a way that’s unforgivable. They’re not going to celebrate Teresa’s new marriage when all she does is try to tear apart theirs. It’s telling that Teresa didn’t have one relative at her wedding.”

Even though they and Guidice are not on speaking terms, Melissa and Joe insist that they wish the newlyweds all the best. They explained that they want the reality star to be “happy and have a good life,” despite the many “past altercations” with Ruelas and all the transgressions they’ve “pushed under the rug.”
Melissa said, “We supported everyone who went to that wedding. We sent them with love. We truly, honestly, even with everything that happened, we both will always love Teresa very much and hope that she has everything she wants now, and that her girls are happy, and that this is Teresa’s happily ever after.”
After the lavish wedding ceremony, Melissa posted a photo of her and Joe on her Instagram with the caption, “Only the strong survive I love you @joeygorga. Wine for 2, please.”

Guidice and Ruelas married on August 6th, at a beautiful ceremony which was held at the Park Chateau Estate & Gardens in New Jersey. At their reception, the couple gave a speech and spoke about the people who had supported them on their big day and those who hadn’t.
Ruelas said, “I want to thank all my friends that came out here from all different states in the country, all my business partners, my family, Teresa, your friends, your family, new friends, old friends.” At this part, Guidice chipped in, saying, “Chosen family!”
