The “Oops!…I Did It Again” singer shares two teenage sons with ex-husband Kevin Federline: Sean Preston and Jayden James. The couple has since moved on to other people. K-Fed has been married to an accomplished volleyball player for nine years and Britney married Iranian actor Sam Asghari last June.
A few days ago, K-Fed did a tell-all interview with the Daily Mail, alleging that the boys are choosing to keep their distance from Britney and would “absolutely” let dad Jamie Spears back into the boys’ lives, despite the abuse Britney claims she suffered from her father during her 13-year conservatorship. Britney and Sam quickly took to social media to refute his statements, but K-Fed’s attorney is backing his claims.
Kevin Federline’s Attorney Says Kids Prefer Grandpa Jamie Spears To Mom Britney Spears
In a shocking twist reported by TMZ on Monday night, it seems the boys actually prefer Grandpa Jamie Spears to mom Britney Spears. K-Fed’s lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, responded to Britney and Sam’s social media statements.
Although Sam had called out K-Fed for painting a false narrative, Kaplan says that Sean Preston, 16, and Jayden James, 15, really miss their grandfather Jamie more than their mother, Britney.
The conservatorship was started in 2008, a month after K-Fed was awarded sole legal custody of the two boys, so he was the one that raised them with his wife Victoria. It’s unclear how much time Britney actually got to spend with her boys during the conservatorship.
It’s also unclear why the boys would prefer spending time with their grandfather, considering K-Fed took a restraining order out on him a few years ago after there were claims that Jamie got into a physical altercation with one of the boys.
However, that restraining order is set to expire, and K-Fed said that he would “absolutely” welcome Jamie back into their lives, along with grandma Lynne Spears, brother Bryan, and sister Jamie Lynn.
Although Sam called out K-Fed for not working and being a poor role model for the boys he helped raise, Kaplan said that K-Fed and his wife work around the clock to help protect the two teenage boys and keep them out of the spotlight.
He also added that K-Fed and his wife never say anything against Britney or Sam. However, Kaplan says that he understands that Sam is Britney’s new husband and he’s not going to take a position against his wife.
Sam Asghari Says The Boys Have ‘Lots Of Things To Be Proud Of’ When It Comes To Britney
As reported by TMZ, in a follow-up statement, Sam Asghari continued to defend Britney Spears and her NSFW snaps.
“Even if there was truth to her kids being ashamed of their [mother’s] choices and positive body image they wouldn’t be the 1st teenagers [embarrassed] of their parents,” he wrote. “Most kids are embarrassed of their parents at one point. The mere presence of a parent can humiliate a teenager.”
“It’s so common it has been a storyline used over and over on TV and in Films for decades,” he continued. “Eventually if not already they will realize their [mother’s] choices are harmless and an expression of newly found freedom. There is nothing to be [embarrassed] about just lots of things to be proud of.” He capped off the post with a red heart emoji and a prayer hands emoji.
In a previous statement, the Iranian actor had posted a brief follow-up to his initial comments by channeling Will Smith, writing, “I wish him the best and hope he has a more positive outlook in the future for benefit of all involved. But for now: Keep my wife’s name…..out your mouth.”
It seems that K-Fed actually might agree with Sam that the NSFW posts Britney Spears shares are “harmless” in a statement he made to the Daily Mail. “I try to explain to them, ‘Look, maybe that’s just another way she tries to express herself,’” Kevin told the publication.
However, he did admit, “But that doesn’t take away from the fact of what it does to them. It’s tough.”
