Although there were many reasons by Meghan McCain decided to quit "The View," she recently revealed that co-host Joy Behar was ultimately responsible for her exit.

On Thursday, the daughter of late Senator John McCain appeared on “The Commentary Magazine Podcast” to share what Joy said to her after she returned from maternity leave in January 2021. As Page Six reported, Meghan McCain gave birth to her daughter Liberty and returned to "The View" from maternity leave in January 2021. When she finally got back on the show, Joy let her know that she wasn't missed at all.

“I finally went back to the show, and the day I went back to the show, Joy Behar said on air, ‘Nobody missed you, we didn’t miss you, you shouldn’t have come back,'” Meghan recalled.

“And I just … I started hysterically crying," Meghan told the podcast hosts on Thursday. "Sorry gentlemen, I know, I started lactating on air, and I started crying.”

Meghan said that she actually went back to her office and was so sick by the comment that she actually physically threw up. She then called her brother, who agreed that it was probably best for her to leave the show.

“I didn’t feel supported when I had my baby, and I didn’t feel supported coming back, and that was ultimately it,” she said. “That was why I left.”

As Page Six reported, Meghan McCain said that "The Stand" actress Whoopi Goldberg also added an element of "unfathomable tension," which contributed to her negative experience on the panel.

In her audio memoir, "Bad Republican," Meghan recalled, “The thing about Whoopi, though, is that she yields so much power in culture and television, and once she turns on you, it can create unfathomable tension at the table.”

“I found her open disdain for me more and more difficult to manage as the years went on and it became more frequent," she continued. "Occasionally, if the show’s political discourse veered into territory that she found disagreeable, Whoopi would cut me off, sometimes harshly.”

Ever since she left the show, "The View" has been rotating a series of guest hosts in order to fill her spot. However, on Thursday, the ABC talk show revealed that not one but two conservative voices will be taking a seat on the panel when season 26 starts in September.

'The View' Introduces TWO New Co-Hosts For Season 26

Alyssa Farah Griffin was the expected choice to replace Meghan McCain, despite being a highly controversial figure. Alyssa had previously served as Trump's strategic communications director until she resigned in December 2020. She denounced the attack on the Capitol on January 6th and has since criticized Trump for contesting the results of the presidential election.

After it was announced that she would be the new co-host joining the panel, Alyssa made a short statement, saying, "I'm here to just join this table, and hopefully, bring a different perspective." She added, "It's going to get sporty. I'm ready for it."

Although Alyssa's seat at the table was met with mixed reactions, many fans were glad to see Ana Navarro, a vocal Trump critic, joining "The View."

"WAY TO GO THE VIEW...Anna is the ONLY REPUBLICAN I can stand listening to. This was way over due," one fan commented. "So happy Anna Navarro has joined the view," another fan wrote. "Love the show and all the ladies but I have been watching her for a long time. Congratulations."

Ana and Alyssa will be joining Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, and Sara Haines in the upcoming 26th season of "The View" when it airs in September.
