Fans who were eager to see the beloved rap group Young Money — Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, and Drake — on stage have been met with disappointment after Drake announced he just tested positive for COVID-19.
The heartbroken rapper shared the devastating news via social media and had to postpone upcoming shows due to his health.
Drake Tests Positive For COVID-19
Ahead of the reunion performance, which was set to hold Monday, August 1, Drake took to his Instagram Story to announce his painful diagnosis.
“I am truly devastated to say that I tested positive for Covid and the Young Money reunion show scheduled for tonight is being rescheduled to the SOONEST date possible,” the “God’s Plan” rapper began.
He continued, “I will keep the city posted and share the new date whenever we have it locked. Until then I hope everyone stays safe and healthy and I love you all.”
The post was concluded, writing, “I am so sorry for letting you down on our weekend together and the moment i test negative I will give you everything I got on stage (except the Covid) 😢.”
Drake first shared plans for the highly-anticipated reunion show on July 13 as part of the October World Weekend Festival in preparation for his Ovo Fest Tour.
“OCTOBER WORLD WEEKEND 🌏 I am currently working on bringing OVO FEST around the world in 2023 for the 10th Anniversary but of course we wanted to turn the city up for the summer!!! More event announcements to come,” the Canadian entertainer wrote at the time.
Fans were thrilled about the lineup, particularly the Young Money Reunion. One fan gushed, “What we all been waiting for,” while another added, “Catch me front row 😎.”

On Thursday, while performing in Toronto at All-Canadian North Stars event Drake brought out the iconic Nelly Furtado. The reclusive singer has been away from the spotlight and hadn’t performed in almost five years.
Well, Drake broke her hiatus, making Furtado perform two of her hit songs, “Promiscuous” and “I’m Like a Bird.” Before bringing the singer up on stage, the “Hotline Bling” hitmaker gushed about her impact on his life.
He said while introducing his fellow Canadian, “Thank goodness I’m a nice, humble, well-spoken [person], I like to deal with people the right way, because that’s the only way that you could get this next person to come out of the house to do what they’re about to do right now.”
He continued, “I don’t care how loud you sang tonight, right now, I need you to sing as loud as you can because this right here took a lot… This next person’s changed my life so much, I love her so much.”
The pair’s close bond and chemistry were evident as they danced around and performed electrically on stage.
The ‘God’s Plan’ Rapper Under Fire For Being Creepy
Drake’s Covid-19 diagnosis comes weeks after he was under fire for taking pictures of an unsuspecting woman while out in a public place.
As The Blast reported, the “Degrassi” alum was compared to Penn Badgley’s character, Joe Goldberg, in “You” after he shared a photo of a woman while on an international vacation.
In the Instagram Story update, the woman, who seemed to be a complete stranger, sat at a table with the rapper, pressing her phone unaware that he took a photo of her.
She looked glammed up, wearing a pink and white embroidered crop top with long, dangling white earrings. Drake captioned the post, “Tried to airdrop this woman a pic of herself cause she’s a dime.”
The picture soon made rounds on the internet and fans blasted the rapper for creepy and invading the woman’s private space.
