Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner just proved they run the show when it comes to Instagram.

Less than a week after the half-sisters complained about Instagram’s gradual shift to featuring more video-based programming on users’ feeds, the social media app is making changes.

However, the changes come after the CEO of Instagram responded to the makeup moguls’ criticism.

According to reports, Instagram is halting plans to make the platform more like TikTok.

IG is owned by Facebook’s Meta platform, and it recently rolled out plans to alter its algorithm so users would have more video content fed to them from people outside their circle of friends and followers.

Meta is reportedly under pressure to perform after Facebook reported that it lost users for the first time ever this year.

There’s also been a drop in revenue, which is the first time in its history!

“I’m glad we took a risk – if we’re not failing every once in a while, we’re not thinking big enough or bold enough,” Instagram’s head Adam Mosseri told Platformer. “But we definitely need to take a big step back and regroup. [When] we’ve learned a lot, then we come back with some sort of new idea or iteration. So we’re going to work through that.”

This all spurred from Kim and Kylie’s “Make Instagram Instagram Again. Stop trying to be TikTok” message posted to their IG stories earlier this week.

The Blast reported on their cries for Instagram reform.

Both ‘KarJenner’ sisters know a thing or two about using Instagram as a tool to further their respective businesses. As of this writing, Kylie’s wildly successful Kylie Cosmetics has 25.9 MILLION followers, and Kardashian’s SKIMS currently has just over four million followers, at 4.3 million.

Their individual accounts have a combined following of 686 million followers.

Morresi issued a video message to Kim and Kylie, along with everyone worried about the app.

Mosseri shared, “We’re going to have to lean into that shift while continuing to support photos,” referring to video-based content a la the company’s reels, and, as Kardashian and Jenner had previously pointed out, TikTok.

He attributed the reason for the change to its users. According to CNBC, Mosseri “believes [Instagram] will become more video focused over time since it is what people are liking, sharing and consuming on the platform.”

The outlet also reported Instagram is testing a full-screen feature, which Mosseri explained was still a work in progress.

“It’s not yet good,” Mosseri went on to explain in the video.

Fans were quick to comment on the change.

“WE DON’T WANT IT,” one person commented, while another wrote, “nobody wants this.”

“FIX THAT UGLY UPDATE PLEASE PLEASE,” one other person asked.

Neither Kylie nor Kim have spoken out about the changes.
