"The View" co-host Joy Behar has gained many supporters and critics for speaking her mind over the years.

Although there were rumors that she was going to retire this summer, the New York Post reported that Joy has signed another three-year deal with ABC. Her rep called the rumors “fake news” and revealed that her new contract will keep her on the show until at least 2025.

Although her salary was not disclosed, the New York Post estimated that Joy's new salary is at least eight figures. Joy is the only original panelist left at “The View” and was reportedly paid $7 million per year as part of her previous three-year deal with the network. This had led many fans to speculate how much she is actually worth.

Joy Behar was actually born Josephine Victoria Occhiuto on October 7, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York. As she has previously discussed, she was raised in a Roman Catholic and Italian household.

Joy attended Queens College and graduated with a B.A. in sociology in 1964. However, her education did not stop there. Two years later, in 1966, she obtained her MA in English Education from Stony Brook University.

Joy began her career as a high school English teacher. She worked in education for the next few years, but still pursued her passion for acting in her free time.

It wasn't until the early 1980s that Joy decided to leave the teaching world behind her and pursue a career in the entertainment industry. At first, she started producing episodes of Good Morning America before she started performing as a stand-up comedian.

Over the course of the next few years, Joy began to make a name for herself by performing at different comedy clubs across New York City. Her first TV appearances were on shows like Live From Queens and Baby Boom.

Eventually, she got her very first talk show called Way Off Broadway while her career as an actress continued to thrive. She scored film appearances in movies like This is My Life, Manhattan Murder Mystery, and Cookie.

Only a year after she graduated from Queens College, Joy married university professor Joe Behar. The couple had one child, Eve Behar, over their 14-year marriage and finalized their divorce in 1981, just as her career in the entertainment industry was getting started.

Joy kept Joe's last name and later started dating Steve Janowitz, whom she married in 2011, but kept the name Joy Behar.

In addition for her vocal support of the Democratic party, Joy is also known for her various real estate investments. As the website reported, she sold her East Hampton home for $3.8 million in 2016.

She then bought another home nearby for $4.75 million. The following year, in 2017, Joy Behar reportedly spent $2.4 million on a two-bedroom apartment in the Upper West Side of New York City. She renovated the apartment and sold it the following year for $3.28 million dollars.
