The "Tomb Raider" actress revealed that the movies had a different meaning when she experienced a miscarriage. She said playing those roles and addressing hurtful issues like that on-screen gave her and the audience more strength when handling their respective grievances.

Vikander shared, "[The miscarriage] was so extreme, painful to go through and, of course, it made me recall making that film." She added that she wondered how people, after going through so much, still managed to put up a front and move on.

"Sometimes you go through things that are tough in life, and if you have an office job, you can step away for a bit. But there are times that myself or colleagues have been through something and, well, I can't understand how they went on to the red carpet afterward," the 33-year-old continued. "To be met by people asking, 'How are you doing?' Given what they had just been through? Most people would not be able to step out of their house."

The actress also talked about how she and her husband Fassbender could find a way through their hard time and balance their role as parents and their respective careers. She explained, "We do every second job. One stays at home while the other works."
