Mama June Is Against Honey Boo Boo's Weight Loss Surgery, Claims She's Too Young

Honey Boo Boo's mother, Mama June, is not in support of her 16-year-old undergoing a weight loss procedure. The reality star, with the approval of her guardian and sister, Laura "Pumpkin" Efird, revealed her intention to undergo a $13,000 weight loss surgery along with her boyfriend.

Mama June's 22-year-old daughter, Pumpkin, assumed guardianship status of Honey Boo Boo after her mother was arrested, along with her boyfriend, for drug-related charges. The move was agreed upon by their father, Mike "Sugar Bear" Thompson, and Mama June herself.

Not long after news of the 16-year-old's intention to undergo weight loss surgery was revealed, her mother made it quite clear that she did not support the decision in any way. Mama June claimed Honey Boo Boo was too young and said she was worried money was the main reason for the move.

Mama June just revealed that she wasn't in support of Honey Boo Boo's upcoming weight loss procedure. The reality star is currently not the 16-year-olds legal guardian, but if she was, she revealed that she would have disapproved of the idea long ago.

The mother of four appeared in an interview with TMZ and revealed that she would be supportive of the procedure if her daughter waited a while longer before the decision. "I'm supportive if this is something Alana wants to get, but I would say she needs to wait until she's 18 years old," she said.

Mama June also revealed that neither Pumpkin nor Honey Boo Boo had told her about the procedure before deciding to do it. She said, "It kind of bothers me that Pumpkin didn't tell me. If Alana wants to do it, she should wait to sign her own paperwork at 18."

As reported by The Blast, Honey Boo Boo has decided to undergo a suture sculpt endoscopic sleeve in a month alongside her boyfriend, Dralin Carswell. The 16-year-old previously revealed that she had made some attempts to lose weight but was confident her size was generic.

The reality star revealed that she wasn't happy with her body, but this didn't make a dent in June's opinion. Besides Honey Boo Boo's age, the mother of four also referenced her previous experience with weight loss surgery as a reason for Honey Boo Boo not to start the process so quickly. She went under the knife but not long after, she gained 100 pounds from the weight she took off.

Mama June was reportedly not given any heads up on the situation because she had no current relationship with the family. The reality star also said that she was worried that money Inspired the decision; however, a source revealed that the weight loss surgery would be done privately.

Honey Boo Boo recently revealed she had issues committing to putting in work for her body. The 16-year-old appeared in an interview with Entertainment Tonight and said that although she knew working out and dieting would help her lose weight, she had no motivation for either.

The reality star explained, "I know for a fact I could get in the gym, and I know for a fact I could diet, and I know for a fact I can do this to lose my weight. I've tried. I will say I've tried, but the one thing with me is I have no motivation."

Honey Boo Boo continued, "I have no motivation to just keep going to the gym every day. I have no motivation to keep eating healthy because, like, I'm gonna eat what I think is good." She added that she would not make herself eat a Caesar salad to lose weight but would instead be operated on. The 16-year-old claimed it was the easiest and fastest way to lose weight.

Despite how Honey Boo Boo feels, her sister and guardian Pumpkin revealed that regardless of whether she decides to go under the knife, she must change her lifestyle. She further pointed out their mother and her failed attempt to maintain her body after gastric sleeve surgery and tummy tuck.

The 22-year-old explained, "I'm really happy for Alana if that's something that she really wants to do. I definitely think before she takes that big step, which I haven't told her this yet, but I think she does need to start making the lifestyle changes."

Honey Boo Boo further revealed that she wasn't a hundred percent sure of the procedure, and before undergoing it, she wanted to be certain that it wasn't life-threatening. "I just wanna make sure it's something I actually wanna do before I go and do it."
