Television personality Honey Boo Boo, born Alana Thompson, is all geared up for her weight loss surgery. The 16-year-old recently announced an August meet-and-greet for fans who wanted to see and take pictures with the entire family. The only question is...is this even legal?

Mama June, Boo Boo's mother and the mother of three others, tied the knot in a surprise wedding in June. The element of surprise was so much in the wedding that neither Boo Boo nor her current legal guardian, sister Lauryn "Pumpkin," were aware of the ceremony.

Boo Boo recently revealed her intention to undergo weight loss surgery along with her boyfriend, Dralim Carswell. The surgery is reportedly set because the former child star feels her weight is genetic and wants to lose it to have a healthier lifestyle.

The surgery aims to get Boo Boo from her current 275 pounds to 150. The 16-year-old revealed that she wanted to get healthier and had tried to go on diets and exercise more over the years but didn't get the results she wanted.

The tv-personality is reportedly worried that her weight is tied to her genetics, and the only way to get healthier would be through the procedure. Her sister and current guardian, Pumpkin, are in support of the surgery and signed off on it.

Turns out, there is no restrictions on a minor getting the surgery. In fact, according to reports, "The American Academy of Pediatrics now recommends that metabolic and bariatric surgery should be considered a safe treatment option for children and teens with severe obesity – and should be covered by insurance for young people."

Honey Boo Boo Wasn't Invited To Mama June's Wedding

Mama June tied the knot with Justin Stroud in June early this year in a courthouse ceremony in Georgia, to the surprise of fans and her family. Her two daughters, Pumpkin and Boo Boo, revealed that they weren't told of the news beforehand, and when they asked their mother, she denied it.

In an interview with E! News, Pumpkin said, "We didn't know about it. I actually got a receipt in my PO Box that said she had applied for a marriage certificate. Then I asked her about it just recently. She denied it. And then eventually she was like, 'Oh, I got married' and we were very, very shocked."

Boo Boo also spoke on the matter, saying she didn't expect her mother to get married again, especially after suffering heartbreak following the 2014 split from Mike "Sugar Bear" Thompson. She said, "It definitely did catch me by surprise because Mama was always one to say she would never get married. But I mean, my mom now, she's definitely different."

Pumpkin And Boo Boo Have Met The Husband

Further in the interview, the two sisters revealed that they had previously met the newly minted husband but didn't mention whether they liked him. Pumpkin and Boo Boo did, however, say that the decision on whether or not to invite them was solely Mama June's.

"If she feels like we don't need to be a part of that," Pumpkin said, "then it is what it is." While talking about the wedding, Mama June revealed the ceremony was "so spur of the moment. Her other children include Anna and Jessica.

Besides the wedding drama, Pumpkin and Boo Boo are reportedly focused and invested in their own romances. On July 10, Pumpkin attended a meet-and-greet with her fans with Joshua Efird, her husband in tow. Boo Boo, on her part, went on a summer getaway to Los Angeles with Carswell.
