Actress Margot Robbie may be the new highest-paid actress in Hollywood for her role as "Barbie" in the new Greta Gerwig movie based on the iconic Mattel doll.

On Thursday, Variety revealed how much money she's getting for the role and it's a lot more than anyone would have expected!

The Australian actress, 32, is taking home a cool $12.5 million dollars for her starring role in the upcoming "Barbie" movie.

Fan-favorite actor Ryan Gosling, who stars in the movie opposite Margot Robbie as Ken, is also taking home $12.5 million dollars for his role. The two of them have been lighting up social media in colorful snaps of the pink-themed movie.

However, Variety didn't just reveal the salary information for the stars of "Barbie." They also revealed the salary ranges of a lot of other actors, some of which who are making a lot more than they are.

For example, in "The Equalizer 3," Denzel Washington took home a cool $20 million dollars for his role. "Titanic" actor Leonardo DiCaprio took home $30 million dollars for the movie "Killers of the Flower Moon."

And, believe it or not, Tom Cruise actually took home a jaw-dropping $100 million dollars for starring in "Top Gun: Maverick," making him the highest-paid actor in Hollywood.

Of course, it does make sense that the "Mission: Impossible" actor would be awarded such a large sum for his starring role, considering that the movie proved to be a smashing success for the "Top Gun" franchise, which started with the 1986 movie.

Earlier this year, Deadline reported that the 2022 "Top Gun" sequel had actually managed to pull in over one billion dollars at the box office in just 31 days, becoming the biggest movie of Cruise's entire career.

However, there are still some celebrities that aren't making quite as much as Margot Robbie.

"Stranger Things" alum Millie Bobby Brown took home $10 million dollars for her role in the new Netflix movie, "Enola Homes 2," which isn't bad for an 18-year-old! For reference, Robbie took home $10 million dollars for her 2020 standalone Harley Quinn film titled "Birds of Prey."

Some stars definitely didn't seen to be making as much as they should have, with "Halloween" alum Jamie Lee Curtis only bringing in $3.5 million dollars for "Halloween Ends." Likewise, Anya-Taylor Joy only took home $1.8 million dollars for her role in "Furiosa."

Who Else Is Going To Star In The Upcoming 'Barbie' Movie?

There are a lot of famous faces joining the “I, Tonya” actress in the upcoming "Barbie" movie. Although their salary information hasn't been revealed, these stars are probably taking home a pretty hefty sum for their roles in the movie.

"Step Brothers" comedian Will Ferrell, "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" star Michael Cera, "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" star Simu Liu, "The Lovebirds" actress Issa Rae, and former "Saturday Night Live" comedian Kate McKinnon will all be starring in the upcoming movie.

According to Deadline, the movie does actually have a pretty compelling plot. The movie tells the story of “Barbie getting kicked out of Barbieland because she’s not perfect enough.” She then “goes on an adventure” to save Barbieland only to realize “that the key to happiness is belief in oneself.”

Earlier this month, Margot Robbie celebrated her 32nd birthday on set and was given Barbie-themed birthday cake with “Happy Birthday Barbie Margot!” written on top with pink icing.

"Barbie" is expected to hit theaters exactly one year from today on July 21, 2023.
