The Former First Lady of the United States took to Instagram to share the great via a short clip. Michelle was dressed casually in a yellow and white tie-and-dye long-sleeved shirt paired with high-waisted jeans.

Her hair was styled into a shoulder-length bob as she accessorized with large silver hoops. "I can't believe it's been a few years since I published my memoir, 'Becoming, and in that time a lot has happened.'" Michelle began the video.

She continued, "We've seen a global pandemic, we've seen an insurrection, a rising tide of hate and bigotry, and intolerance and a whole lot more. And it's often left me feeling out of balance...I felt vulnerable."

The Princeton University alum shared that the uncertainty of the past years caused her to ponder on several questions — "How do we overcome? "How can we channel our frustrations into something positive?" How do we overcome our fears? — and the process resulted in the birth of her new book.

"It's called 'The Light We Carry,'" she announced. "And I think of it as some kind of a toolbox, a collection of some of the perspectives and practices I've gathered over the years to keep me centered."

Michelle shared that her hope for readers who pick up her new book is that they are equipped with tools to help them become "a little steadier with the understanding that none of us has to go through any of this alone."

In the accompanying caption, Michelle announced that her new book will be available on November 15. She concluded her message, writing, "I never thought I would be the author of one book, let alone two. But I’ve found that writing this has been a way for me to gather my thoughts and find more clarity during this time. So, I hope this book means as much to you as it does to me."

About 'The Light We Carry'

A statement about the promised page-turner sent to People Magazine reads, "Drawing from her experiences as a mother, daughter, spouse, friend, and First Lady, she shares the habits and principles she has developed to successfully adapt to change and overcome various obstacles — the earned wisdom that helps her continue to 'become.'"

Some habits listed in the book include "going high" — a very popular slogan used during the Obamas administration translated to "when they go low, we go high" — "starting kind," and surrounding oneself with trusted friends and mentors.

An excerpt of the book's introduction reads, "I've learned it's okay to recognize that self-worth comes wrapped in vulnerability, and that what we share as humans on this earth is the impulse to strive for better, always and no matter what. We become bolder in brightness. If you know your light, you know yourself. You know your own story in an honest way."

Markus Dohle, CEO of Penguin Random House, the publishing house under which "The Light We Carry" will be released, celebrated the partnership via a statement that read, "Penguin Random House is honored to partner once again with Michelle Obama and to help bring her powerful storytelling and earned wisdom to readers everywhere."

Dohle continued, "I am confident that her new book will provide all of us with some urgently needed reassurance while rekindling a spirit of optimism about the power we all hold to positively shape our personal and collective futures."
