On June 24, 2022, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, thus making it a state’s decision to decide on abortion laws. 50 years of federal abortion laws have been overturned in an instant and the American woman is mostly angry and grieving.
Celebrities have stepped up, condemning the actions as at least half of the states are now expected to outlaw or severely restrict abortions, which up until now, were legal in the first and second trimesters of pregnancies.
Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton Denounce The Decision To Overturn Roe V. Wade

As the media continues to present the Supreme Court’s decision in various ways, the celebrities and activists have responded, largely condemning the decision and calling it a regression of women’s rights as well as reproductive rights.
One of the first reactions came from Michelle Obama, who gravely stated that she was heartbroken and reminded of “painful lessons of a time before Roe was made law of the land.”
Wrote the former first lady, “So yes, I am heartbroken – for the teenage girl, full of zest and promise, who won’t be able to finish school or live the life she wants because her state controls her reproductive decisions; for the mother of a nonviable pregnancy who is now forced to bring that pregnancy to term; for the parents watching their child’s future evaporate before their very eyes; for the health care workers who can no longer help them without risking jail time.”

Hillary Clinton called it “a step backward for women’s rights and human rights.” She captioned her post as “Join me today in re-committing to help people access the care they need—and win elections at every level—to protect reproductive freedom for everyone in America.”

Katie Couric also explained further:
“Going forward, abortion rights will be determined by states, unless Congress acts. For now, abortion remains legal in 35 states, and will soon be illegal in 16 states. Only three states, South Dakota, Louisiana, and Kentucky, have laws that immediately ban most abortions. 13 states with “trigger bans” designed to take effect as soon as Roe is overturned, will ban abortion within 30 days. In five states without trigger laws — Alabama, Georgia, Iowa, Ohio, and South Carolina — courts have blocked or struck down recent laws that banned most or all abortions. Without Roe, those laws will probably take effect within weeks or months.”

Meanwhile, Monica Lewinsky was a lot more explicit.
Here’s what former President, Barack Obama had to say.
Today, the Supreme Court not only reversed nearly 50 years of precedent, it relegated the most intensely personal decision someone can make to the whims of politicians and ideologues—attacking the essential freedoms of millions of Americans.
