Kaitlyn Bristowe Reacts To New 'The Bachelorette' Season With F-Bomb

Former "Bachelorette" Kaitlyn Bristowe has slammed the new structure of the reality show's current season.

The reality star, who appeared on the series seven seasons ago, stated that the new rule of two women in the "Bachelorette" role pushes them to compete against each other, adding that it was wrong that the showrunners were okay with the concept.

Clayton Echard, a former "Bachelor" who dated and dumped new Bachelorette Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia, also said he was ridiculed when the first episode of the spinoff series aired on July 11.

Windey and Recchia are expected to find a fiancée from a pool of 32 guys, marking the first time the series has presented as many bachelors since its initial season.

Bristowe spoke up against the current season of "The Bachelorette," expressing her anger at its new format that appears to force female contestants Windey and Recchia into a role where their love journey is intertwined rather than depending on their own personal decisions.

"I f—kkkin hate this," the 37-year-old wrote on her Twitter Page following the airing of the July 18 episode of season 19. "Am I being dramatic?? I cannot believe they are doing this to these women and to the men. #TheBachelorette."

Unlike season 11, when Bristowe was chosen over Britt Nilsson to continue as the next Bachelorette in the first episode, the current "Bachelorette" cycle marks the first time two women have sought love for a whole season.

Host Jesse Palmer told viewers at the start of the season that the new dual lead format would not pit the two females against each other. However, although the show is just two episodes in, many fans, including Bristowe, are now speaking against the new narrative.

After the reality star posted her thoughts on the new format on her Twitter page, people responded in the comments area with their own opinions. Many wondered how practical the new rule would be throughout the season, while others just dismissed it, claiming that it had changed everything about the show.

"So Rachel sends a guy home... what about Gabby? What if she wanted to get to know him more?" one fan asked.

"They turned the show that should be about one girl into another season of the bachelor," another Twitter user said.

"I wish they had been more creative. Parallel casts and perhaps each woman recommends a guy who seems better for the other, but then they have each other for commiseration," one more follower wrote.

"My God, I cringed watching last night. Everything about last night just seemed wrong. Trying to watch but not sure if I can. I miss the old days of The Bachelor. Just saying," another Twitter person added.

Apart from the new season receiving backlash from fans and Bristowe, it also stirred up some controversy when former "Bachelor" Clayton Echard came out to address some comments the male participants made on its premiere episode.

Appearing on Bristowe's podcast "Off TheVine," the reality star claimed that they aimed digs at him for dumping Windey and Recchia simultaneously during their stint on "The Bachelor" and called the act a form of "cyberbullying."

"Do I think that's what should have been shown? I mean, no. I do think it was cyberbullying or an attack, or it's going to lead to cyberbullying," Echard said on the podcast (via Page Six). "And so for that, I'm not the biggest fan of how that was shown, but it was and … it's just the nature of the beast."

Although Windey, a 31-year-old former NFL cheerleader, and Recchia, a 26-year-old flight instructor, did not end up with Echard, the two established a deep friendship throughout their journey, which will undoubtedly continue in the ongoing installment of the "The Bachelorette."

During an interview with The Bachelor Nation, they highlighted how much they learned from each other during the filming of season 19 of the show, from how to let love in to accepting support from friends and being secure in what they want and don't want.

On "The Bachelorette," Windey and Recchia will have a second chance to meet the love of their lives. They must choose their fiancé from a pool of 32 men, a record number of choices in the spinoff series. It remains to be seen if they will finally achieve their goal despite the new regulations that entangle their decision-making.
