Kodak Black Was Arrested On Drug Possession Charges In South Florida

Rapper Kodak Black was recently arrested after a controlled substance was found in his possession. The rapper is one of the artists set to perform on July 24 at the Rolling Loud Festival 2022. He has sold over 30 million singles since the beginning of his career with massive songs like his most recent, "Super Germlin."
Black previously got in trouble with the law this year after being arrested for breaking and entering in his hometown. He also served jail time for multiple weapons and drug charges earlier before being pardoned by President Donald Trump.
The rapper's most recent skirmish with the law resulted from a controlled substance being found in his possession. The authorities stopped the rapper because of his darker-than-legal tinted windows and also discovered that his driver's license and vehicle tag were expired.
He Was Arrested For Drug Possession
Kodak Black was just arrested on account of drug possession in South Florida.
The rapper was charged with trafficking in oxycodone and being in possession of a controlled substance. He was booked into the Fort Lauderdale jail in Florida on Friday and released on bail on Saturday.
According to CNN, the Florida Highway Patrol released a press release that revealed that the troopers pulled the 25-year-old over because he was in a purple Dodge Durango with window tints that "appeared to be darker than the legal limit."
After pulling the vehicle over, the officers detected a marijuana smell and then conducted a search of the SUV. The investigation uncovered around 31 white tablets in a small clear bag and almost $75,000 in cash. The suspicious tablets were eventually identified as oxycodone.
The drug is mainly prescribed as a severe pain medication and is highly addictive. Record checks also disclosed that the vehicle tag and driver's license were expired.
Kodak Black Was Released On Bail
Following his arrest and detainment, the "Zeze" artist was released on $75,000 bail the next day. Via People Magazine, the rapper's attorney, Bradford Cohen, released a statement saying that they would try to resolve the issue as quickly as they could.
"We will get him a bond today and move forward with resolving the matter quickly." He added, "Never judge a case based on an arrest. There are facts and circumstances that give rise to a defense, especially in this case."
This isn't the rapper's first visit to prison. Black has been arrested multiple times for charges which include sexual assault of a teen, falsifying documents, and most recently, trespassing,
He Was Arrested For Sexual Assault
One of the rapper's most known brushes with the law was when he sexually assaulted a teen girl in February 2016. He was accused of sexually assaulting the victim in a Florence county hotel room. He would have faced up to 30 years in prison if convicted however pleaded guilty to first-degree assault and battery. Black's sentence was then reduced to 18 months probation.
The 25-year-old's other offenses include multiple weapons and drug charges, which got him in prison for almost four years. His sentence was shortened by the then president Donald Trump who commuted it on his last day in office. In a statement released by the White House, he described Black as "a prominent artist and community leader."
The rapper's most recent arrest was early this year in his hometown of Pompano Beach, South Florida. Black was arrested for trespassing in the early hours of January 1.
Kodak Black Got Shot Outside A Bar
Earlier this year, Black was reportedly shot outside a bar in the middle of a fight in West California. The shooting occurred outside the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles, where Justin Bieber hosted his after-party and was not gang-related.
The shooting footage showed the moment before the shooting when Black was posing with fans. The video cut to another moment when several people were tussling in the middle of the road as shots rang out.
The other shootout victims were aged 19 and 60 and were all rushed to the hospital shortly after the incident. The investigation revealed that they were shot amidst a brawl while coming out of a club on N La Cienega Boulevard.
