On Saturday, rapper Kodak Black was reportedly shot and injured at an afterparty for singer Justin Bieber’s Los Angeles concert. The shooting happened outside the restaurant where the party was held, and several others were also shot and injured in the incident.
Black and the other victims are currently receiving medical care and are reportedly in stable condition. So far, there is very little information on the shooter’s identity, but investigations are ongoing. Read on to find out more about the incident.
The Shooting Started With A Fight
On Saturday morning, around 2:45 a.m local time, several individuals were standing outside The Nice Guy, the restaurant where the party was held. According to TMZ, these individuals included Black and rappers Gunna and Lil Baby.
They were all smiling and talking until someone in the group of men standing with Black got jumped by an unknown assailant. Black then swung at someone, and the next thing witnesses heard was several gunshots.
The Los Angeles Police Department quickly responded to the scene and later told The Hollywood Reporter that the ages of the injured men were 19, 24, and 60. They also confirmed that “multiple rounds were fired.”
It Was Later Revealed That Black Was Shot
Shortly after the shooting, sources confirmed to TMZ and NBC News that Black, whose real name is Bill Kapri, was amongst those shot. The identities of other victims are still yet to be confirmed.
Representatives for Black, Bieber, and The Nice Guy are yet to make any statements about the incident. The LAPD revealed that when authorities arrived at the scene, they immediately identified two victims.
Paramedics with the L.A. Fire Department then moved the two victims to hospitals while two additional victims took themselves to other victims. So far, all the victims are in stable condition with their wounds.
The Shooter Is Still Unidentified
In their twitter press release, the LAPD wrote that the gunshots were fired by a yet to be identified suspect, who then ran from the location and headed south. In addition, they described the suspect as a Black male.
It is not yet clear if the shooter was the same person who initially attacked the man in Black’s camp or the same person that Black fought. It is possible that three separate people worked together and that there were multiple shooters.
TMZ posted footage of the incident that revealed another angle to the events. In the video, fans can see a man wearing a black hoodie who seems to be holding an object that looks like a pistol. Just as the shots rang out, the man was seen pointing the object in the direction of Black and his crew.
There Were A Lot Of Celebrities At The Party
Bieber’s afterparty was held close to the Pacific Design Center concert venue, where the 27-year-old singer had performed earlier that night during Revolve and h.wood’s Homecoming Weekend party.
After the concert, several celebrities headed to the afterparty at The Nice Guy, including Bieber and his wife, Hailey Bieber, Drake, Khloe Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, and many others.
The police are still investigating the shooting and the events that led up to it. They have yet to make any arrests but have asked that anyone with information about the suspects contact the LAPD or submit an anonymous tip online.
