Jay-Z Has This Wholesome Reaction To Retirement Rumors: 'Tried That!'

Jay-Z is clearing the air and answering the question that has been on fans' minds, "Is Jay-Z retired? Is Jay-Z going to retire?"
The legendary rapper might not have released music in recent years, but Hov is letting the world know that he can never ever be done with music!
Jay-Z Talks Retirement & Future Plans
Jay-Z recently sat down with comedian Kevin Hart for an episode of his "Hart to Heart" series on Peacock and decided to address the retirement rumors that have plagued the internet.
When Hart asked the direct question, "Are you retired?" Hov, as he is fondly called said, "No. Uhm... I tried that, I'm terrible at that."
The "Empire State of Mind" rapper was referring to his headline-making retirement in 2003, throwing a blowout party at Madison Square Garden to celebrate his bow out.
However, he couldn't keep up with it as he collaborated with several artists and finally made a return to the music scene with his 2006 album, "Kingdom Come." Explaining his decision to call it quits then, Jay-Z said,
"I was really burnt out that time. I was releasing an album every year -- '96, '97, '98. And then in between that, soundtracks, other people's albums, Roc-A-Fella, touring back-to-back."
He continued, "And you know, I just looked up one day and I was like, 'I'm tired.' I had never been on a vacation until, like, I want to say 2000. Like, my whole life. And I was just really burnt out at that moment."
Nevertheless, the Brooklyn native declares that he isn't done with music just yet.
"I'm not actively making music or making an album or have plans to make an album," he disclosed. "But I never want to say I'm retired… It's a gift, and who am I to shut it off?"
As for what the future would be like, Hov said, " It's open to whatever. It may have a different form, a different interpretation. Maybe it's not an album. Maybe it is. I have no idea, but I'm just gonna leave it open."
Jay-Z's last studio album, "4:44" was released in 2017, but he has kept busy with other music commitments. In 2018, he and his wife Beyoncé released their joint album "Everything Is Love" and followed it up with the "On The Run III" tour which they co-headlined.
Despite not putting music out in recent years, the "Numb/Encore" rapper is far from being less busy. He runs multiple businesses, including his streaming service, Tidal, and the 40/40 Club franchise
The 'Young Forever' Rapper Gives Insight Into Fatherhood
The 52-year-old also gave a rare insight into fatherhood, explaining why he has slowed down in recent years. Jay-Z earned the title of father in January 2012 when he and Beyoncé welcomed their daughter Blue Ivy.
Five years down the line, the iconic power couple became parents once again when Beyoncé gave birth to twins, Sir and Rumi in 2017.
Fatherhood and family have taken priority for the rapper in recent years and he explained why to Hart.
"Time is all you have. That's the only thing we control is how you spend your time," he confessed to Hart. "You're reckless with your time before. You're just all over the place and then you have to... What are you leaving your house for? Every second that you spend, you're spending away from the development of these people that you brought here, that you love more than anything in the world. So what are you going to spend that time on? That changed a lot. That changed practically everything."
Jay-Z & Blue Ivy Make Rare Appearance
Jay-Z is no doubt a man of his words and his dedication to his children was observed last month when he and Blue has a special daddy-daughter date at the NBA Finals.
The pair sat courtside and as Jay-Z was being cheered on by the fans and commentators, he took a moment to plant a sweet kiss on his baby girl, who seemed visibly embarrassed by her dad's sweet antics.
The 10-year-old hilariously warned her dad to be careful with her hair — a moment that has since gone viral — as she looked like the spitting image of her famous mother.
