Whether it is Neo from the Matrix, John Wick, "Ted" Theodore Logan or Duke Caboom from Toy Story 4, Keanu Reeves has played some amazing charactersthroughout his career.

And though his last name is Reeves, a future superhero role is a dream of his to play, but it isn't Superman.

Keanu Reeves has been blessed with an amazing career full of hit movies that has made him tons of money. Money that a long time family friend told the NY Post, “He’s somewhat embarrassed about that.” Career wise, Reeves has thrived but in his personal life he has had many adversities and tragedy that have pushed him towards charity and being humble in nature.

The family friend continued to share that, “Keanu’s given away a lot of money and done a lot more for people than most will ever know. He knows how lucky he is. Unlike many Hollywood mega stars, he never takes any of this for granted.”

Back in 1993, fellow actor, co-star and best friend, River Phoenix, died of a drug overdose. Then in 1999, his girlfriend at the time, who was assistant to director David Lynch, Jennifer Syme gave birth to their daughter Ava who unfortunately was born stillborn. The devastation of all of that led to their breakup but then they got back together in 2001, the same year Syme died in a car accident.

He also had a really rough road with his father Samuel who passed away in 2018 who was not much a part of his life. Lots of darkness had him mention in a Rolling Stone interview, “The story with me and my dad’s pretty heavy. It’s full of pain and woe and f–king loss and all that s–t.”

A family friend added, “Keanu will always resent his late father. His young years were rough. He was always in the shadow of [his father’s] drug addiction — he’s always feared that. But that might be the thing that led him into acting, that lit his fuse, so to speak. It helped him from thinking too much, which is his tendency.”

It also led him to pay things forward through being an amazing person who not only helps with his money but helps with his overall kindness. Making him a superhero in real life as he is well loved in Hollywood both to his fans and those people he works alongside. Which makes us think he would be easily fitted into a role to play a superhero on film because not only his acting ability but his real life tends to showcase the superhero he could be.

Keanu Reeves Would Love To Do More Than Just Voice Batman

During the premiere of the upcoming animated feature “DC League of Super-Pets”, Reeves who is voicing Batman got talking with Rachel Lindsay from Extra as she asked if he would ever want to wear the Batman Cowl in a live action adventure. Reeves was excited and quick to answer, “I love Batman as a character and I love him in the comic books, in the films, so to get the opportunity to voice — to play — Batman was awesome. It’s always been a dream, but [Robert] Pattinson’s got Batman right now and he’s doing awesome.”

He then added with a laugh, “Maybe down the road, maybe when they need an older Batman...” And at some point they will likely need an older Batman since there has been a long list of actors who have played Batman on screen of varying ages from Lewis G. Wilson, Robert Lowery. Adam West, Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, Christian Bale, Ben Affleck and Robert Pattinson.

If it were to happen, it would be really cool to see how Reeves would approach it all. But if it happens to not happen, he still feels with “Super-Pets” he “got to play Batman,” calling it “a lot of fun.” And if he doesn't get a spot in the DC Universe, the Marvel Universe might call him up for his services!

Keanu Reeves Has Had Dreams Of Being In The MCU

Before Reeves revealed his dreams of playing Batman, he also has had a vision of himself doing superhero work for the MCU. Back at the premiere in 2021 of "The Matrix Resurrections” at the Castro Theater in San Francisco, Reeves talked candidly to ET‘s correspondent Matt Cohen about joining the Marvel Universe. “There’s so many wonderful films and filmmakers and artists participating in those films. It would be fun to be a part of,” Reeves said at the time.

And he might actually get this wish as well because decision makers who make the MCU films would love Reeves to come aboard. Reports that Marvel’s Studio President Kevin Feige wanted the actor in something in the future have been confirmed as Feige has mentioned about Reeves participation, “We talk to him for almost every film we make. I don’t know when, if, or ever he’ll join the MCU, but we very much want to figure out the right way to do it.”.

Now that would be awesome, along with if he ever has the chance to do a live action Batman. But in the meantime, we will just have to hear Reeves as Batman as “DC League of Super-Pets” hits theaters July 29.
