The nominations for the 2022 Emmy Awards were released Tuesday morning and some of our favorite show — *screams* Only Murders In the Building — was recognized.

The Hulu true crime comedy show which first premiered in August 2021 has made a home in fans' hearts and this was greatly reflected in the number of nominations it received.

However, one of the three main casts — Selena Gomez, Steve Martin, and Martin Short — was snubbed by the award and the other two are speaking up in her defense!

Steve Martin And Martin Short Comment On Selena Gomez's Snub

Although Martin and Short were nominated for the Lead Actor in a Comedy Series category, the last of the trio, Selena wasn't given the same accolade.

During an interview with Variety, Martin and Short touched on the subject, saying, "Yeah, we’re very happy we got a lot of nominations. We’re a little dismayed that Selena [Gomez] didn’t get nominated because she’s so crucial to the trio, to the show."

Martin continued, "She kind of balances us. In fact, in some ways, you can say that we got nominated because of her balance in the show. But we’re happy that she is nominated as executive producer on the show. She’s a big asset for us."

The great friends also dished on what season 3, which was just green-lit, would bring for fans.

"I mean, there’s so many tentacles to each script. Something on script one is crucially affecting script nine. So they have to work out the whole journey before we start shooting," mentioned Short.

Martin, on the other hand, said, "For the end of this season, we have a teaser for next season. So you have to have a story in your head already to make a teaser for … I got lost. There’s so many seasons. I can’t, you know."

Although Gomez didn't get a nod for lead actress she received a nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series as a producer, making her the second Latina in history, after Salma Hayek, to bag such a feat.
