Rihanna's Amputee Model Mama Cax Dead, Singer Remembers Friend: 'Rest In Power Sis'

Rihanna revealed that she was devastated by the news that her friend and inspiring model, Mama Cax has passed away. The singer took to Instagram to share her grief with her millions of fans.

"A queen. A force. A powerhouse beauty that brought her strength to the @savagexfenty stage this year inspiring so many across the globe. Rest In Power sis ✊?? @mamacax," Rihanna wrote in the caption of her tribute post.

The model's family broke the news that the 30-year-old spent the last week in the hospital and fought up until the very last moments of her life.

Her family posted the sad announcement to the model's official Instagram page and "with deep regret and immense sadness" revealed that Mama Cax, real name Cacsmy Brutus, passed away on December 16.

"To say that Cax was a fighter would be an understatement. As a cancer survivor, she had grown accustomed to taking on life's several challengers head on and successfully. It is with that same grit (fervor) that she fought her last days on earth."

Her family asked the public to respect their privacy at this time and more information about the funeral arrangments will be made public at a later date.

"We are aware that this loss will be felt globally and will not be easy for anyone," the statement acknowledged.

Many people, including Rihanna, were caught off guard by the sudden passing of one of modeling's brightest stars and many of her peers reacted to the news in the comments.

Famous model Iskra Lawrence was extremely touched by Cax's friendship.

"There’s no words to express how grateful I am for your existence and that the world has been graced with your positivity, wisdom and love. It’s been an honour my love to get to know you and I will always cherish the memories and until we meet again one day - thank you, thank you for being you love you ❤️," Iskra wrote .

Sports Illustrated model Nina Agdal took the time to offer her thoughts and prayers to her loved ones, "Devastating.. To Cax’s family and loved ones my deepest condolences ❤️ much love and prayers ?."
