Singer Camila Cabello has no qualms about her single status!
The young vocalist and her then-boyfriend, Shawn Mendes, made their relationship public in July 2019 after speculations of their connection surfaced following Cabello's "Senorita" video, which featured the "It'll Be Okay" singer.
Throughout their time together, Cabello and Mendes gave fans countless PDA moments and made regular appearances on one other's Instagram profiles until they announced their split in November 2021 via a joint statement posted on their individual Instagram pages.
With almost a year gone since the pop stars split, die-hard fans of the former Fifth Harmony singer had thought she would be back in the dating scenes. On the other hand, the "Bam Bam" crooner recently admitted that she isn't too worried about finding a new beau anytime soon.
Camila Cabello Just Wants 'To Hang Out With People'
Speaking with Cosmopolitan U.K, Cabello squashed the hopes of fans hoping to hear she had started a new love adventure, revealing that she was currently prioritizing being in healthy platonic relationships.
"I don't put a lot of focus on it," she told the publication. "I just really want to hang out with people, I want to make friends, and I've made a lot of great friends over the past year."
The singer stated that in the past, being in a relationship was a priority for her, but she no longer has that mindset. "Before, I used to be like, 'Yes, love, oh my God, love,' and now I'm just trying to have a good time," she continued. "I just want to live my life and have great friendships."
Despite not actively searching for a relationship, Cabello has not ruled out the idea and is open to accepting love. "If something happens, then that's really fun, but I don't put any pressure on it," the 25-year-old said.
Camila Cabello Is Making New Connections
On meeting new people and making connections, the "Havana" singer was recently photographed hanging out with Lox Club CEO Austin Kevitch on June 15 during an outing in Los Angeles.
Cabello was caught all smiles in a snapshot obtained by E! News, dressed casually in a white crop top, frayed denim, and shoes as the pair strolled the streets together. Kevitch, on the other hand, was dressed casually in a black shirt and khakis, with a gray sweater slung across his shoulders.
Cabello's recent outing comes seven months after her split from Mendes, which confirmed that they still regarded each other with high esteem and will remain friends, though they will no longer share a romantic connection.
"We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends," they shared on their profiles at the time (via E!). "We so appreciate your support from the beginning and moving forward."
Her Split From Shawn Mendes
Fans of the popstars who had shipped the romance learned the cause for their split when Apple Music's Zane Lowe interviewed Cabello.
"As I get older, the priorities shift," she said as per Independent. "And I feel like it was that way for both of us. "We both started so young, too. It's like we're really learning how to be healthy adults."
She added: "I love Shawn, and I feel like there is literally nothing but love for him. I'm finally at a place where I feel like I've had experiences – I'm doing the therapy, I've put in a lot of work. My focus really has shifted a lot."
At the time of the breakup, an Insider close to the pair told E!that it "was not a bad breakup at all" and that the "relationship was getting stale and complacent, and they decided they were better off being friends."
Shawn Mendes Paused His Tour
Meanwhile, Mendes has been on the road since last month, promoting his "Wonder" album, which debuted in 2020. However, only seven stops into the tour, the singer announced on Instagram that he would be taking a hiatus from the road to focus on his mental health.
The "In My Blood" singer revealed he had canceled the next three weeks of gigs due to the "toll of the road and the pressure," bringing him to "a breaking point," and he vowed to inform followers "as soon as there are more updates."
The tour, which is now covering North America, is set to resume on July 31 in the singer's hometown of Toronto, Canada, and conclude on October 26 in Newark, New Jersey, with a European leg commencing in May 2023.
