Actor Johnny Depp has donated the proceeds from his NFTs sales to aid charities in need.

The "Pirates of the Caribbean" star, who recently won a defamation case against his ex-wife Amber Heard, performed this stroke of goodwill, which has garnered the actor praise for his compassion and humility.

According to Page Six, Depp had stated earlier this year that he intended to sell thousands of NFTs based on his paintings of friends and personal heroes. The purchases were made through www.neverfeartruth.com, with secondary sales done by other multi-chain NFT marketplaces.

Following the donation announcement, some of the recipients took to Twitter to thank the actor for his generous act.

"Thank you so much @JohnnyDeppNFT for your generosity in helping support [Perth Children's Hospital Foundation] and WA sick kids," Perth Children's Hospital Foundation tweeted. "These funds will make a significant impact in helping keep [Perth Children's Hospital] world-class for our children and families."

Fans also praised the actor for redeeming his promise and used the opportunity to pass snide remarks about his ex-wife for allegedly not following through with her pledge to donate part of her divorce proceeds to The Children's Hospital of Los Angeles.

"And this, ladies and gentlemen, is philanthropy. And the difference between an unfulfilled pledge, and a straight donation," one fan wrote.

"No wondering about pledge or donation synonymously or not here. Every time I think I couldn't be prouder of that man, he proves me wrong. AMAZING," another Depp loyalist wrote tweeted.

The NFT marked the first time the public had seen his paintings, as he had kept his artworks private up until the recent sales. Depp himself, Marlon Brando, Elizabeth Taylor, Hunter S. Thompson, Heath Ledger, daughter Lily-Rose Depp, Tim Burton, Depp's late dog Mooh, and a cartoon character, Bunnyman, created by his son are among those featured in the portraits.

As per Page six, "Depp's style is a mix of pop and street art, with images of pop-culture figures rendered in vibrant colors." All the NFTs were based on the actor's original artwork, which was then digitally enhanced into its virtual format.

Prior to the donations, Depp was mired in a long-running defamation suit against Heard, in which the actor sought restitution after his ex-wife authored an op-ed piece that purportedly slandered his reputation.

Throughout the case, the actor and his ex Heard, were both subjected to various humiliating circumstances, including jurors seeing images of Depp hungover from drinking and drug binge episodes. Also, hearing about his and Heard's regular confrontations during their marriage.
