Her first engagement didn't work out, but the second one, now that's golden. "Love Is Blind" season two star Shaina Hurley, 32, is now a married woman. After her engagement to fellow castmate Kyle Abrams, 29, didn't quite work out, Hurley found love off the set.
From Intimate Courthouse Ceremony to a Big Fat Greek Wedding
According to People, a source said that Hurley and her fiancé Christos Lardakis got married in a courthouse wedding this past weekend. The insider told People, "They did this just to get their marriage license," and are "still planning on having a wedding sometime this year." Attending the intimate ceremony was the groom's daughter, Axelle. TMZ reported that a close friend of the couple was also in attendance, and the two are planning a wedding in Greece. Sources told TMZ that both of their parents gave their blessings for the courthouse ceremony that was necessary for them to have their Greece nuptials. The couple is reportedly planning a bigger more traditional ceremony later this month in Greece with all their friends and family in attendance.
Hurley Said Her First Engagement Shouldn't Have Even Happened
Hurley was one of the contestants on the second season of "Love Is Blind." She connected with two men in the pods, Abrams and Shayne Jansen, but ended up saying yes to Abrams. Jansen moved on with Natalie Lee, but the two eventually split. During filming, Hurley called off her engagement to Abrams and left the show. At the show's reunion after the season aired, she apologized to Abrams for not ending things sooner. "Honestly, looking back on it, I should have said no right away to you. 100 percent," she said to Abrams. "I actually do take full ownership. I could have avoided a whole bunch of drama and mess, 100 percent. And I'm owning that."
So just what happened to the couple? While in Mexico, Hurley realized that their religious differences were just too much for her to handle with her being Christian and Abrams an atheist. She ended up leaving Mexico early, but Abrams decided to keep trying when back in Chicago but it didn't go well for the two.
Back in February, Hurley told ET that she should have said no in the first place to getting engaged to Abrams. "At the end of the day, I should have said, 'No,' and stuck to my gut and I didn't. I completely regret that because I could have avoided a lot further messiness and drama. I'm working on it," she said. "And it goes back to my people-pleasing and I didn't want to hurt him. And at the end of the day, he ended up getting hurt."
From Mr. Wrong to Mr. Right
Instagram followers of the reality show star were first introduced to her new man back in March when she posted photos from their Greek vacation. People revealed the couple got engaged that month. "Shaina is engaged. She's been dating Christos for almost a year and this is the happiest I've ever seen her," a source told People. "He has stood by her through all the 'Love Is Blind' drama and has been her steady in the storm." The insider also said that Hurley is, "such a sweetheart and has found a man who loves her and understands her."
