Even though he's best known as a drummer, Ringo Starr occasionally sang lead vocals on one song on each album, like "Yellow Submarine." Ringo also wrote and sang the popular songs "Don't Pass Me By" and "Octopus's Garden."

Sadly, Ringo suffered from several life-threatening illnesses throughout his childhood and was frequently hospitalized. Despite this, Ringo held a position with the British Rail before getting an apprenticeship as a machinist at a Liverpool school equipment manufacturer.

In 1957, Ringo co-founded his first band, the Eddie Clayton Skiffle Group but later joined another Liverpool group, Rory Storm and the Hurricanes, by the time The Beatles formed in 1960. In August 1962, The Beatles asked them to replace Pete Best as their drummer and the rest is history!

Ringo has also been featured in numerous documentaries, hosted television shows, and even narrated the first two series of the children's television program "Thomas & Friends." He also portrayed "Mr. Conductor" during the first season of the PBS children's television series "Shining Time Station. In 1989, he founded Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band and has toured around the world.
