Billionaire Elon Musk now has nine children... that we know of.
On Wednesday night, Business Insider broke the news that the Tesla CEO had quietly welcomed twins with top Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis. According to court documents obtained by the publication, the twins were born in November 2021.
Elon Musk and Neuralink Executive Shivon Zilis Secretly Welcome Twins
Musk, 51, and Zilis, 36, recently filed a petition to change their twins' names in order to “have their father’s last name and contain their mother’s last name as part of their middle name,” according to court documents obtained by Business Insider.
In May 2022, the petition was approved by a judge in Austin, Texas; however, the children's names have not been disclosed.
As the publication reported, the twins were born only weeks before Musk and his ex-partner, Grimes, welcomed their second child together via surrogate in December 2021. They welcomed a daughter named Exa Dark Sideræl. The former couple also has a 2-year-old son named X Æ A-Xii.
The SpaceX founder also has five other children with his ex-wife, Justine Wilson: Griffin, Vivian, Kai, Saxon, and Damian. The couple married in January 2000 and welcomed a son named Nevada Alexander Musk in 2002. Unfortunately, the newborn died of sudden infant death syndrome, better known as SIDS, when he was only ten weeks old.
Elon Musk Admits That Grimes Has A 'Much Bigger Role' In Parenting Than He Does
In a 2020 interview with the New York Times, the world's richest man, at least according to Forbes, admitted that Grimes plays a bigger role in parenting than he does.
“Right now there’s not much I can do. Grimes has a much bigger role than me right now,” he said of his then-partner.
“When the kid gets older, there will be more of a role for me,” he added. “I think just doing what I’ve done with my other kids.”
In December 2021, Claire Elise Boucher, known better as the Canadian pop star, Grimes, released a new song called “Player of Games,” which seems to throw some shade at the tech mogul.
In the music video, which can be seen above, Grimes shows off snow-white hair as she clings, naked, to a suit of armor, with a dagger hidden behind her back. The camera spins around the pair throughout the song as the lyrics and bits of binary code appear on the screen.
Before Musk founded SpaceX, he worked creating video games and has admitted to still playing Halo from time to time. Grimes seems to channel that into her lyrics as she sings, “I’m in love with the greatest gamer but he’ll always love the game more than he loves me.”
She adds, “Sail away to the cold expanse of space, even love couldn’t keep you in place,” with seems like a jab at his SpaceX company. At the beginning of the song, she sings, “Would you still love me out on Europa or will you forget? Baby, how can I compare to the adventure out there?”
At the end of the song, she seems to make peace with their split, singing, “If I loved him any less, I’d make him stay, but he has to be the best.”
In September 2021, Page Six reported that the couple had gone their separate ways after three years together due to their demanding work schedules in separate parts of the country.
“We are semi-separated but still love each other, see each other frequently and are on great terms,” Musk said at the time. “It’s mostly that my work at SpaceX and Tesla requires me to be primarily in Texas or traveling overseas and her work is primarily in LA. She’s staying with me now and Baby X is in the adjacent room.”
The couple started dating in May 2018 and welcomed their first son together in May 2020.
It's unknown if Musk has secretly welcomed any other children. It is rumored that he has welcomed a child via surrogate with his ex-partner, "Aquaman" actress Amber Heard. However, that has yet to be confirmed.
Speaking of Amber Heard, the FBI is currently helping the Australian government investigate her claims of perjury. More information about the investigation can be read here.
