The Ultimate Double Date: Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton to Join John Legend and Chrissy Teigen for Dinner

You don't get a bigger double date than the likes of the No Doubt singer, Gwen Stefani, and Blake Shelton joining fellow The Voice judge John Legend, and his wife, Chrissy Teigen. The two couples are planning a big date night following the season finale of The Voice and their preliminary plans have been entertaining, to say the least. It seems that the idea of having dinner together has been in the works for a few weeks now, and the commentary back and forth has been just as entertaining as the show.

If there's one common theme that the two couples have been discussing over the last several weeks, it's mac n' cheese. John Legend was first to comment on possibly making his very own cheesy pasta dish sharing, "We haven’t planned our menu yet,” Legend said. “We talked about our mac-n-cheese recipes, maybe I’ll make that. But we’ll figure it out." Just recently, Stefani mentioned how she always makes her own mac n' cheese, prompting Legend to suggest that as a potential menu item for their big dinner date. As for what Teigen would be providing? Blake's not sure he wants any of that.

While the other menu items have yet to be decided, Shelton and Stefani have already poked fun about the possibility of Teigen cooking something herself. During their Thanksgiving retreat to Oklahoma, the couple joked about the model cooking for them in a video, which was then sent to Legend. In the video, Shelton is seen lifting the lid off of a big pot on an open fire, full of meat, corn, carrots, and other vegetables, with Stefani stating, "Tell Christie Teigen to take that!" Of course, this was all in jest, but Legend had the perfect response.

Shelton had a bit of concern on whether Teigen would be upset by their little joke and Legend ensured them that if she was, in fact, mad, they would know it by the time the couple left dinner due to intentional food poisoning. Legend stated, "We’re going to have you guys over for dinner … and you’ll know if she’s upset or not,” he said. Shelton then quipped back, "So if I get food poising I’ll know she saw it?" Legend laughingly responded with a simple 'yeah'.

The moments leading up to the big double date have surely been entertaining and with a little bit more time before the pre-Christmas dinner, we might be privileged to some more competitive banter between the two couples. That would be great for just about anybody. And oh, what it would be to see the conversations at that table. It will also be interesting to see what other items are brought to the dinner, as both Blake and Gwen have made it a tradition to mix up their dinner menu for their pre-Christmas meal. We will just have to wait and see!
