Ozzy Osbourne Released A New Song

On Friday, Osbourne surprised fans with a new song titled "Patient Number 9" and an accompanying music video, which artist Todd McFarlane directed. In the eerie video, Osbourne acts as a patient in a mental institution alongside an illustrated version of him. The two versions fight several demons in two distinct styles.

In a statement to Loudwire, Osbourne explained the story behind the title track. He said, "The song is about a mental institution. Having someone like Jeff Beck play on my album is just incredible, a total honor. There's no other guitar player that plays like him and his solo on 'Patient Number 9' is just jaw-dropping."

"Patient Number 9" was released shortly after Osbourne underwent major surgery to realign the metal pins in his back and neck. According to his wife, Sharon Osbourne, the surgery was "life-altering," and the entire family worried about its success and recovery.

Osbourne had suffered from neck injuries and movement difficulties dating back to 2003, after a pretty bad quad biking accident. Another major fall in 2019 made his neck and back problems significantly worse, and he had to have 15 metal pins inserted into his body.

He also explained the extent to which the injury had affected him and said, "I can't walk properly these days. I have physical therapy every morning. I am somewhat better, but nowhere near as much as I want to be to go back on the road."

Sharon, Osbourne's long-time wife, announced on her new show, "The Talk," when Osbourne received a positive COVID result. She said, "I spoke to him and he's OK. I am very worried about Ozzy right now. We've gone two years without him catching COVID, and it's just Ozzy's luck that he would get it now."
