Is Cameron Monaghan about to get his own Star Wars Disney+ series?

The good folks over at SWNN certainly seem to think so. They recently released a report with contained speculation that Monaghan, who played the lead character of Cal Kestis in “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order” and the upcoming sequel, “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor” is going to get his own Disney+ series.

After starring in the video games, it is certainly possible that Monaghan is going to get his own Disney+ series to flesh out Cal’s story a bit more. Cal was introduced in the “Jedi: Fallen Order” video game as a Jedi Padawan who hid on the planet of Bracca. After he uses his Force abilities to save his friend’s life, both Empirical Inquisitors and a group of Jedi sympathizers find Cal and he manages to escape the planet.

Most of the game focuses on Cal coming to terms with what happened and trying to find a way to rebuild a Jedi Order and keep survivors safe from the Empire.

Their correspondent, Kristian Harloff, said he was approached with a rumor from a source that he trusts. However, Harloff led with a clear disclaimer: “Rumor, rumor, rumor… Have to say that – not confirmed!”

“The rumor itself, at the moment, is that there is a Cal Kestis show in the works for Disney Plus. The rumor is that [the actor Cameron Monaghan has] actually signed on to play the character from Jedi: Fallen Order in a live-action series for Disney Plus,” Harloff continued. “There are no production dates set, but my source tells me that this is happening.”

It makes sense that, if there was a Disney+ series based on Cal Kestis in the works, Monaghan would be tapped to play him, since he acted out the character using performance capture to appear in the game. Not much is known about the sequel, titled “Survivor,” but it is supposed to take place around the time of the “Obi-Wan Kenobi” Disney+ series.

Considering that a show in this time period would allow Lucasfilm to provide their audience with more insight into the time period between “Revenge of the Sith” and “A New Hope,” it’s possible that Disney is looking to explore a Cal Kestis story instead of a second season of “Obi-Wan Kenobi,” with the possibility that Kenobi could make a cameo appearance without having the series be focused around his character.

However, he is not the only actor rumored to be joining the galaxy far, far away lately.

Most fans know Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven on the hit Netflix series “Stranger Things.” However, a source told U.K.’s Mirror that Brown has been in “secret” talks with Disney executives over the leading role in a Star Wars series or movie, which could potentially have a £12 million payday.

The source claimed that Millie and her father and manager, Robert Brown, are already friends with Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy and noted that the “conversations are informal,” so it doesn't look like any official contracts have been drafted yet.

The insider revealed that casting her in a starring role would be “an easy decision for Disney” given her appeal to younger audiences and suggested she'd make more than the million dollars per episode that she's currently making on “Stranger Things.”

The source revealed: “Millie is on Disney’s radar for the new Star Wars projects. She’s had contact with Kathleen, who is aware of her desire to feature in a movie or play a central role in one of the new TV projects for Disney Plus.”

“The Disney executives know just how much of an icon she is already for the 10 to 30-year-old audience and what that brings in terms of appeal,” the source went on. “She could easily take home $15m for a first film or series.”

“And she doesn’t need to audition,” the insider added. “It’s more a case of how the director and her bond. She has the gravitas to hold down the lead for that universe.”
