Is Richard Gere Really Having Another Baby at 70 Years Old?!

Richard Gere is going to have a busy household because his much-younger wife is reportedly pregnant for the second time this year. The 70-year-old "Pretty Woman" actor and Alejandra Silva, 36, are said to be expecting their second child together, just 8 months after welcoming their son into the world. That's a whole lot of diapers to change! According to the Spanish publication Hola! Richard Gere's wife is already three months along, which is wild considering she only gave birth to their first baby together, Alexander, in February.

Interestingly enough, the publication says their second child is "due next spring," right around the same time they'll be celebrating Alexander's first birthday. While Richard Gere's rep has yet to confirm the baby news, there could be some weight to the story since Hola! has ties with the couple. The outlet published exclusive photos of the actor and Spanish publicist's May 2018 wedding. They were also the organization that broke the news when she gave birth to Alexander. Months after their wedding, Richard Gere and Alejandra Silva announced they were expecting. The couple had a special friend assist with their first baby announcement, the Dalai Lama. Posing alongside the Buddist leader, who placed his hand on her bump, the couple shared the photo with the caption, “A very special moment just a few minutes ago. Getting blessings for our precious to come… We couldn’t announce it before telling HH Dalai Lama." The post has since been deleted.

Richard Gere and Alejandra Silva both have children from other relationships. The actor and his former wife, model/actress Carey Lowell, share one child together, a 19-year-old son named Homer James Jigme Gere. Alejandra Silva has one child outside of her marriage with the actor too. She welcomed her first child, son Albert, with ex-husband Govind Friedland in 2012. So far, it's been just boys in the couple's family so maybe this time they'll get lucky with a sweet baby girl. The publication did not state the gender of their upcoming child. Alejandra Silva marks the actor's third wife. Prior to his marriage with her and Lowell, he tied the knot with supermodel Cindy Crawford. The duo wed in 1991 and got divorced only four years later. Despite the failed marriages, Alejandra feels like she's hit the jackpot with Richard Gere. “I feel like in a real fairy tale, the luckiest woman in the world! Our love story is the sweetest, most romantic, and perfect dream I’ve ever had,” she once told Hola! “There is not a day that Richard does not mention how important I am to him … He is the most humble, sensitive, affectionate, attentive, funny, generous man … I have known.”

This year has brought babies and controversy for the 70-year-old star. Over the summer, he faced backlash when he jumped aboard a Spanish humanitarian ship filled with over 100 migrants to bring them water and food. The action left Italy's Deputy Prime Minister unimpressed. Richard Gere explained he was filming the situation in an attempt to draw attention to the standoff between migrants and European countries. The people on board the ship had been stranded for just over a week when the actor interfered. Italy's Deputy Prime Minister, Matteo Salvini, mocked the actor on social media over the video and wrote, "Richard Gere on Open Arms? I hope he gets a tan and has fun. See that it is a Spanish NGO ship so they can unload the 120 migrants in Ibiza or Formentera right?"
