'Dancing With The Stars' Judge Carrie Ann Inaba Says Fans Will 'Adapt' To New Format

Popular dancing competition "Dancing With The Stars" has been around for a long time. Now that it is coming back after a long hiatus, things will reportedly be a little different.

Judge Carrie Ann Inaba confirmed that things would not be the same as they used to be in the past, starting with the shift to streaming exclusively on Disney+ instead of the usual ABC channel.

She added that there would also be a big change in the show's voting structure. However, she did not give specifics on how it was going to change.

In a recent interview with E! News, Carrie Ann Inaba opened up about the new updates coming up on the 31st season of "Dancing With The Stars." 

She, however, focused on the change in voting structure, stating that it might have to do with the live voting across countries. However, she did not state how the voting structure would change.

"It is a little bit different. I think the difference is maybe live voting across the country." 

In previous seasons, the show has received criticisms for its live voting structure. As of the 30th season of the show, voting was only open during the central and eastern broadcast times. This barred fans from the west coast from being able to vote for their favorite performers.

"Maybe there's gonna be some things that will come along with the scripts that I think people are gonna love," continued Inaba, per People. "People don't always like change, but I think they'll adapt."

Inaba confirmed that she was set to return as a judge as the show moved from ABC to Disney+.

"I will definitely be there next season at the judges' table where I normally sit. I'm very excited about it," she added. "I think it's going to be a really good change. After 30 seasons, some shows don't make it that far. The fact that we're still evolving and trying new things, it says a lot about our brand."

She also hinted at a possible return of Tyra Banks, although Banks herself hasn't confirmed this.

"Of course, we want Tyra!" she said of the former host of "America's Next Top Model." "The thing about Dancing with the Stars is, once you're on our show, you're in the family. That's so precious. We truly are family. Not many shows are as close as we are."

Derek Hough, a judge on the show, shared in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that transitioning "DWTS" from the ABC channel to Disney+ was a bold move.

"At first, I was like, 'Wha? What does that mean?!' But within 10 seconds, I was very, very excited about it," Hough started. "I think that's where a lot of things are moving toward."

He continued, "Dancing with the Stars has always been a trailblazer, they've always been the first to do things. So to move into this area is very bold, very brave, and I'm very excited about it, to be a part of that new phase in television!"

He also confirmed that the show would no longer include the usual 2-hour commercial break. However, he sees this blank ad space as an opportunity for growth.

"It's more opportunity for more performances, more dances, more creativity, so I'm excited about that too," he concluded.

The 31st season of "Dancing With The Stars" is slated to hold this fall on Disney+ and has already been renewed for the 32nd season.

Brooke Burke, a former winner and a former host of the show, shared her thoughts about Banks being a host of the show. She started hosting the show in its 29th season after replacing Tom Bergeron.

It's tough; it's a live show. And I know those live tapings are a struggle behind the scenes. You know, she's a diva," said Burke. "Everybody knows she's a diva. There's nothing wrong with that. I'm not saying anything bad about her."

She continued, "Your pros are the divas, your winner, your perfect-10-score dancer who has never done it, that defines a diva in the ballroom. I think that show requires a lot of compassion and loving kindness, especially as the host. I don't really need to say it, I think it was a tough transition."

Burke concluded, "change is hard. It is hard for everyone. They have gone through a lot on that show, that's for sure. You are just not the star as the host, it's not about you as the host. So, yeah, I think Tyra's great in a shining role, I'll just say that."
