Iconic pop star Britney Spears tied the knot with her long-time beau, Sam Asghari. The secret wedding had fewer than a hundred guests and boasted several big-name celebrities, including Spears' long-time friend, Paris Hilton.
Hilton and Spears' friendship started as far back as the early 2000s when the duo was frequently together. Their more social appearances were cut short when Spears' conservatorship was put in place in 2008; however, they continued to stay in touch over the years.
Following the end of the pop star's wedding ceremony, Hilton revealed that she declined an invitation to DJ an event where President Joe Biden and several other presidents would make an appearance to ensure that she made it to Spears' wedding.
Paris Hilton Chose Britney Spears' Wedding Over A DJ Gig For The President Of The United States
Spears' recently concluded wedding had several A-list celebrities on the guest list, one of which was Hilton. While talking about the ceremony on her This is Paris podcast, the socialist revealed that she turned down a DJ role at an important event to attend the "Circus" artist's wedding with her mother.
The hastily recorded update to her podcast was taken late at night, on the day of the wedding. While she didn't share many details about the event, the 41-year-old mentioned it was Joe Biden's Summit of the Americas. The event reportedly brought several leaders from the North, Central, and South America to Los Angeles, where it was held.
The ninth Summit of the Americas was held the same night as the wedding, but Hilton decided that being there for her long-time friend meant more to her. "I was actually asked to DJ for the president and all of the other presidents from around the world for the dinner, but this was more important to me," she said.
Hilton Said Spears' Wedding Is Her' Story To Tell'
Hilton further revealed that she kept the wedding "top secret" from everyone. In the recording, she continued, "I was keeping it top secret all week. Literally I did not tell anyone, not even the people I asked to have dresses sent, my whole team, my glam, my driver, everyone."
She added that she would say as little of the wedding as possible out of respect for Spears and that it was her story to tell. "I'm not gonna go into any details because it was the princess bride's night, and that's her story to tell. But all I can say is that I am just so incredibly happy for her," the actress said.
Hilton continued, "She looked stunning. It made me so happy to see that she found her fairytale, and they are a beautiful couple and just glowing. It just really warmed my heart to see her just so happy and free."
Spears Married Asghari On June 9
Spears and Asghari reportedly met in 2016 when the aspiring actor appeared in her music video for "Slumber Party." They officially came out in January 2017, and the 28-year-old aided her while she struggled to end her long-running conservatorship.
Spears eventually announced their engagement in September 2021, and in November that same year, her conservatorship officially ended. Their third big announcement was in April 2022, when the couple revealed they were expecting a child. However, the pop star suffered a miscarriage.
She finally tied the knot with Asghari on June 9 in her Los Angeles home, surrounded by around 60 family members and friends. Besides Hilton, other members of the guest list included Madonna, Selena Gomez, Drew Barrymore, Donatella Versace, and others.
Britney Spears Didn't Invite Her Mother And Sister
While some family members were in attendance, Spears' mother, Lynne Spears, and sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, were not part of the guest list. This is after the artist and her family's publicized battle to end her 13-year-long conservatorship.
While she wasn't part of the guests, Lynne publicly supported Spears by commenting on her wedding post. She wrote, "You look radiant and so happy! Your wedding is the 'Dream' wedding! And having it at your home makes it so sentimental and special! I am soooo happy for you! I love you!" While Jamie didn't comment, E! News reported that she liked a tweet concerning the wedding.
Besides her parents and sister, neither of her sons was present during the ceremony. Her ex-husband, and the children's father, Kevin Federline, told People Magazine that they were absent to keep the spotlight on their mother.
