Fans of “Sesame Street” are in for a treat!

According to Deadline, “Sesame Street: The Musical” is coming off-Broadway this fall. The new stage production is set to feature Elmo, Cookie Monster, Grover, Bert, Ernie, Rosita, Abby Cadabby, and Oscar the Grouch… among others!

The musical will feature some familiar “Sesame Street” classic numbers and some new songs that have been created specifically for the musical. The first preview will take place on September 8 at Theater Row theater, with an opening night scheduled for September 22. The musical will run through November 27.

The musical will be both directed and produced by Jonathan Rockefeller of Rockefeller Production, which specializes in family entertainment like “Sesame Street.” The musical will feature the loveable ensemble in their original puppet forms with special guest performers yet to be announced.

The Count, Gabrielle, and “a host of Honkers, Martians, and other favorites” are also scheduled to make an appearance.

In a statement, Rockefeller said, “We are so honored and proud to partner with Sesame Workshop to bring Sesame Street’s first original Off-Broadway musical, along with its iconic characters, to the stage. We believe it will be a production for children and fans of all ages to embrace and enjoy.”

Jennifer Ahearn, Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and Themed Entertainment, added, “As the world begins to open up, families and fans are looking forward to live, high-quality in-person experiences with their favorite brands, and Sesame Workshop is answering the call with the expansion of our themed entertainment offerings.”

Ahearn continued, “With its critically-acclaimed productions and keen eye for presenting beloved stories, we’re thrilled to collaborate with Rockefeller Productions on a stage show that will have the young and young-at-heart singing, dancing, and celebrating with their Sesame Street friends.”

Secret Celebrity Guests Have Yet To Be Announced!

Fans can’t wait to see what special celebrity guests will make an appearance during the musical. These details are still being worked out and will be confirmed at a later date.

The popular children's show has been entertaining fans new and old for decades. The series first premiered in 1969 and is now in its 53rd season in the United States.

A Twitter page dedicated to the show tweeted, "The Muppets from Sesame Street take to the stage! This September, join Elmo, Cookie Monster, Abby Cadabby, and a whole host of Sesame Street favorites as they appear in their very own musical– starring… well, themselves!" They also added a link so that fans can be first in line for tickets. There are only a limited number of shows and seats are likely to go quickly!

Pix 11 News also gave the musical a shout-out, revealing that some of the secret celebrity guests will be Broadway performers. Check out the video above for more information!
