Mohammed Hussain, Varanasi's operations director, told Daily Mail that "We had a call out of the blue on Sunday afternoon saying that Johnny Depp wanted to come to eat with a group of people. I was shocked, and at first, I thought it might have been a wind up [joke]."

He continued, "But then his security team arrived [and] checked out the restaurant, and we let them have the whole place because we were concerned that he might be bothered by other diners."

He also shared details of what the chefs served Depp and his party. He said they had delicacies such as chicken tikka, shish kebabs, lamb karahi, paneer tikka masala, lamb karahi, and tandoori king prawns. Hussain said that the party was very happy with their meal.

Hussain Said Depp Was A Lovely Customer

The managing executive also shared some of the beautiful moments from the evening and emphasized that Depp was an extremely "lovely, down-to-earth bloke." He said, "[He] spent a lot of time speaking with the staff, our friends and family and was happy to pose for pictures with them. You would never have thought that he was such a big star. He had a lot of time for us all."

Hussain also shared that he promised not to reveal the amount of Depp's total bill but did say that "money was no issue, and it was easily in five figures." He also said, "We made more money from Depp's visit than we did from our busiest night of the week, which is a Saturday when we have around 400 diners." According to Hussain, Depp's feast ended with simple cheesecake and panna cotta for dessert.

He Recalled His Favorite Moment Of The Night

Hussain also shared with Daily Mail what he considered the "most surprising moment of the night," which was when Depp asked for "a little break from everybody" for almost 20 minutes and just sat with him in his office.

He said the "The Crimes of Grindelwald" actor was interested in people-watching on the CCTV and wanted to know how the cameras worked. He explained that he didn't ask Depp any questions about the court case.

He said, "It was just a nice conversation with a very humble man. I'm still pinching myself, because I never dreamt that Johnny Depp would be in my office having a chat about how the CCTV in the restaurant works. It was a real honor to have him here."
