Johnny Depp And Jeff Beck Announce Joint Album Right After Defamation Trial Victory

Actor Johnny Depp and Musician Jeff Beck announced a new music project days after the conclusion of his defamation trial with ex-wife Amber Heard. The actor was previously embroiled with his ex-wife in a defamation trial, which only recently concluded.

After viewing evidence and testimonies from witnesses, the Judge ruled in Depp's favor, awarded the actor $15 million in damages, and brought the six-week-long case to a close. According to her attorneys, Heard had intentions to appeal the case.

Depp is apparently making up for lost time. Famous guitarist Beck just announced a joint music project with the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor. The duo had previously performed on the UK stage together; one of the performances had Depp's ex Kate Moss in attendance.

Via E! News, a rep for Depp revealed that the actor and Beck were collaborating to release a new album next month. The guitarist first made mention of the project on June 2, highlighting that they initially met up with each other five years ago.

According to The Guardian, he said, "I'm going to take this opportunity to tell you I met this guy five years ago, and we've never stopped laughing since. We actually made an album. I don't know how it happened. It will be out in July."

The actor joined Beck onstage and performed a six-song set that had the covers of Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On," Jimi Hendrix's "Little Wing," their remake of John Lennon's 1970's "Isolation," and other songs by Dennis Wilson and Killing Joke. The duo performed together several times in the UK before the announcement.

Beck's announced concert dates are between June 4 and June 7. The show will kick off on June 4 at Apollo, Manchester; the next performance will be on June 6 at the Symphony Hall in Birmingham, and on June 7, the artist will perform at the York Barbican. It isn't certain if the Depp will perform with Beck in the other venues.

Depp first got on stage with Beck on May 29 and later on performed at the Robert Albert Hall in London. His ex-girlfriend Moss was seen leaving the venue after the show. She was joined by former TV personality Sharon Osbourne, who attended the after-party after the event ended.

Moss' appearance was after the supermodel testified in Depp's defamation trial against Heard as reported by The Blast. In a three-minute video, the supermodel refuted the rumor that Depp had anything to do with her falling down a flight of stairs when the duo was still together in the 1990s.

When narrating the incident, Moss revealed that the actor initially left the room before she fell down the stairs. "I screamed because I didn't know what had happened to me, and I was in pain. He came running back to help me and carry me to my room and got me medical attention," she recalled.

She also rejected claims that Depp ever physically attacked her in the course of their relationship. Moss asserted, "He never pushed me, kicked me, or threw me down any stairs, no."

Depp filed a suit against Heard after the actress wrote a piece for The Washington Post in 2018, where she had described herself as a "public figure representing domestic abuse." While she never mentioned the actor's name in the personal essay, it was implied.

In previous court documents, Depp's lawyers claimed that the story was concocted "in hopes of generating positive publicity and to advance her career." They also claimed that the piece "depends on the central premise that Ms. Heard was a domestic abuse victim and that Mr. Depp perpetrated domestic violence against her."

The trial lasted for over six weeks until the Virginia Jury declared that Heard was liable for defamation. As compensation, Depp was awarded $15 million in damages. The Judge then reduced punitive damages to $350,000 and Depp's damages to around $10 million. Heard was also awarded $2 million in compensatory damages following her countersuing Depp for $100 million.

While the verdict ended in Depp's favor, Heard's attorney Elaine Charleson Bredehoft, revealed that the actress intended to appeal the case. In a June 2 interview with Today, she said, "She has some excellent grounds for it."

The attorney also added that there were a "number of evidentiary issues" that occurred during the trial. Apparently, Heard's team couldn't release a sizable amount of evidence in court. She added, "There was so much evidence that did not come in."

Depp, on his part, released a statement celebrating the verdict and revealed that it was his only intention from the start. "From the very beginning, the goal of bringing this case was to reveal the truth, regardless of the outcome," he wrote. "Speaking the truth was something that I owed to my children and to all those who have remained steadfast in their support of me. I feel at peace knowing I have finally accomplished that."
