What Does Dolly Parton Eat In A Day... Besides Taco Bell

Singer Dolly Parton has achieved a lot of success over the past 76 years and she’s still looking as young as ever.
Eating Well did a deep dive into her eating habits to see what she eats to stay looking so young… and yes, that includes Taco Bell!
Dolly Parton Starts Her Day With Coffee
The “9 to 5” singer revealed that her day often begins at 3 AM, so she needs a little bit of coffee to put some pep in her step. Dolly told the Wall Street Journal that she uses Folgers for her “cup of ambition.”
“I like quite a bit of cream, so it’s just a little more than tan,” she added. “A cup and a half will do me all day.”
In addition to coffee, Dolly likes to nom on a “quick and easy” homemade egg salad” that she keeps lying around. She added, “Through the week I'll eat things like egg salad on toast with tomato, and sometimes I'll have a bagel with cream cheese, cucumbers, and tomatoes.”
During the week, she usually followed a low-carb diet, especially when she’s working. She allows for “moderation for the most part,” especially on weekends.
Dolly Parton Is All About Meal Prepping For Lunch
When she’s on tour, she keeps her bus packed full of homemade low-carb meals in the freezer to thaw. Dolly told Parade that she likes to spend Sunday with her husband when she’s at home.
“I try to stay on my low-carb diet during the week, and then when I know I have a day off, I say, 'Make me a pan of cornbread,’” she joked.
If she’s not feeling cornbread, the “Jolene” singer will sometimes swap out her starch for a baked potato… or any kind of potato, really. She told the New York Times, “Just give me my potato, any kind of potato, and I'm happy.”
She’s also been known to nibble at a salad with ranch dressing and some seafood for lunch.
Dolly Parton Is All About Chicken... And Dumplings?
Believe it or not, Dolly told Parade that her specialty is chicken and dumplings. However, she told the New York Times that she also likes to make Southern staples like roast pork, green beans, and fried okra.
The country singer has a pretty diverse palette, telling the New York Times that she lives Indian, Italian, and Mexican food. “And if it's a romantic type of thing, I like a good French restaurant,” she added. Believe it or not, Dolly admitted, “I don’t like pretty food. The way I see it, if the food’s too pretty, it ain’t good.”
She also generally drinks red wine, although she’s not too picky about her drinks. “I don’t know too much about different kinds [of wine],” she admitted to the Times. “But I know I like the kind that has a little of that dryish feeling at the end.”
What Does Dolly Parton Eat When She’s On The Road?
In a previous conversation with Insider, the Dolly revealed that she and her husband Carl Thomas Dean are big fans of Taco Bell and their fan-favorite Mexican pizza.
“I like soft-shell tacos,” she explained. “I like the others, but they fall apart so bad, especially if you're riding around. So I always get a Taco Supreme, with the sour cream and all that, in the soft shell. I love that.”
Dolly continued to elaborate on her go-to order, explaining, “I get an order of rice and beans. And I get the mild sauce. I don't like to get it too hot and ruin everything.”
Although some would be shocked to hear that Dolly loves Taco Bell, she doesn’t believe in diet culture. Dolly previously told Vanity Fair, “I tried every diet in the book. I tried some that weren’t in the book. I tried eating the book.”
“It tasted better than most of the diets,” she joked.
