Kim Kardashian Seeks Temporary Release Of Uvalde Shooting Victim's Father to Attend Funeral

Kim Kardashian is doing her part to help in the wake of Texas's school shooting!

The reality TV star, who has over 300 million loyal followers, is using her social media platform to support one of the grieving families from the tragic massacre that occurred in Uvalde.

The 41-year-old entertainer is advocating for the temporary release of Eli Torres, the father of a young girl who was brutally gunned down in the unfortunate incident.

On Thursday, June 2, the "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" alum reached out to the Federal Bureau of Prisons via an emotional post on her Instagram Stories.

The mother-of-four shared a picture of a young girl with a beautiful smile that radiated warmth and happiness. However, there was no joy in the words that followed.

The California native explained that the girl in the photo was named Eliahana 'Ellie' Cruz Torres, a 10-year-old elementary school student and one of the 19 victims of the mass shooting in Uvalde.

Apart from bearing the unbearable weight of losing Eliahana at such a young age, Kardashian noted that the deceased's family could not process their grief as a united front.

To bring all the members together, the Federal Bureau of Prisons would need to grant the victim's father a temporary release from jail so that he could attend his daughter's funeral.

According to the KKW Beauty founder, Eli was incarcerated for a non-violent drug charge, but so far, the Bureau has rejected the Torres family's pleas for a temporary pardon.

Taking matters into her own hands, Kardashian implored the prison officials to reconsider their stance against letting a parent honor their ward's passing. The TV personality wrote:

"I ask the @Bureauofprisons to grant Eli Torres temporary release so that he can say his last goodbye to his baby girl. Every parent deserves that right."

Sadly, the Torres family were not the only ones suffering the aftermath of Texas's school shooting as the senseless crime took the lives of 19 students and two teachers.

As reported by The Blast, the shooting occurred on Tuesday, May 24, days before Robb Elementary School marked the end of its academic session, turning the once peaceful Uvalde community into a horror story.

According to the statements from eyewitnesses at the scene, the death toll could have been reduced if the police had acted sooner.

Javier Cazares, the father of the deceased Jacklyn Jaylen Cazares, noted that he, alongside several concerned parents, were stopped from accessing the school by authorities.

The bereaved parent explained that there were "at least 40 lawmen armed to the teeth," but they did not stop the gunman, allowing him to run free for 40 to 60 minutes before forcibly entering and killing him.

Videos backing Cazares claims have spread on social media platforms, where anxious parents were captured begging authorities to stop the gunman or let them save their children.

In a tragic twist of fate, the mass shooting also took the child of one of the Law enforcers, deputy Felix Rubio from the Uvalde County Sheriff's department.

The officer's 10-year-old daughter, Alexandria 'Lexi' Rubio, a recipient of the good citizen award, died in the tragic incident.

In April this year, The Blast revealed that President Joe Biden had granted clemency to 78 inmates, including three pardons and 75 commutations.

The lawmaker's generosity was announced via a statement made by the White House featuring a detailed report on the clemency recipients.

Following the news, Kardashian marked the occasion by sharing a screenshot of the White House's statement on her Instagram story alongside a touching message.

"The Kardashians" star thanked President Biden for understanding that there were felons worthy of second chances, a message the media personality has actively spread.

The KKW Fragrance founder began supporting criminal justice reform movements during the reign of the 45th U.S. President, Donald Trump.

The Glamor Award winner's interest began after hearing about Alice Marie Johnson, a woman imprisoned for over 20 years on a nonviolent drug offense.

The mother-of-four successfully campaigned for Johnson's release and also promoted the early release of four felons through her documentary, "Kim Kardashian West: The Justice Project."
