Liam Payne is speaking up again!
This time he is addressing the recent zero filter statements he made when discussing his former "One Direction" bandmate, Zayn Malik, in a recent interview.
Payne had nothing to hide as he revealed to YouTuber Logan Paul that he had many reasons for disliking Malik.
Liam Payne Will Always Be On Bandmate's Side Despite Drama
Following the backlash from the interview, Payne took to Twitter to clear the air about his comments.
In the tweets which dropped in the early hours of June 2, "The Strip That Back" singer told his 34.5M followers that he would not "normally comment on this stuff but when its your family it's hard to let it slide."
He continued that although he was responding to a specific question, he might have done a poor job of articulating himself.
Payne finished the tweets by claiming that he meant that "there will always be things we disagree on but that I will always, always be on his side."
The tweets have garnered different reactions from Twitter users, with some asking him to go and apologize to Malik instead of tweeting.
One person wrote that what Payne did was not okay as he "insulted" Malik, his relationship, personality, family, and upbringing.
Another user exclaimed that the former "One Direction" member was not even sorry. He added that Payne could have ignored the question coming from "zayn's number one hater if you really cared about him."
A third follower accused Payne of "gaslighting" the people who saw the interview. Many others have shown their support for Payne as they claimed to love and respect him even more.
Someone also told the "Drag Me Down" artist that he did not need to explain anything to people who know nothing.
The drama began after Logan recalled an altercation between his brother Jake and Malik in 2020. The Blast shared that the Paul brothers got into it with the singer after the Deontay Wilder vs. Tyson Fury II fight.
Things between the guys became heated when Malik reportedly said he did not want to hang out with the controversial brothers, which led them to harass him outside his hotel room.
Logan spent some time outside Malik's door trying to get the agitated "Dusk Till Dawn" singer to come outside and talk to him. In response to Logan's recall, Payne said:
"There's many reasons why I dislike Zayn, and many reasons why I'll always, always be on his side. If I had had to go through what he went through… through his growth and whatever else…"
The "They Don't Know About Us" Singer Was A Pioneer One Direction Member
Before the former "Night Changes" artist ever met Malik, he tried to make a name for himself via "The X Factor" platform. Payne auditioned in 2008 and made it to the top 24 contestants, but he got booted off soon after.
However, before he left the show, Simon Cowell told him to come back to the show two years after he was done with his education.
The Blast recollected that Payne told Logan and the "Impaulsive" crew that he spent the next two years singing everywhere, from stadiums to old people's homes.
The father-of-one returned to the singing competition when the two-year timeline was up. Payne soon met four other young men who, like him, wanted to be music stars during and after the show.
While there, the judges told them they would get booted off unless they joined a band. Cowell and the judges then picked some contestants out and advised them to pool their talents.
Payne asked Cowell and the judges for five minutes to decide if he wanted to be a One Direction member.
The singer recalled going outside to call and get his father, Geoffrey's advice about the judges' request. After listening, Geoffrey said he could be "100% of nothing or one-fifth of something."
Even though One Direction ultimately missed out on winning that year's "The X Factor," Cowell offered the boy band a recording contract soon after the season ended.
Payne later discovered that one of the reasons for the award-winning band getting formed was because Cowell promised to make it work for young Payne.
