Hailey Bieber Remembers Late Grandmother Carol Baldwin, Dead At 92

Model Hailey Bieber is paying tribute to her grandmother, Carol Baldwin.

On Thursday night, Alec Baldwin announced that his mother had passed away in a touching Instagram post. His wife, Hilaria Baldwin, commented with a heart emoji as many friends paid tribute and expressed sympathies for her passing.

On Friday morning, Hailey Baldwin, who became Hailey Bieber after marrying “Yummy” singer Justin Bieber, posted her own tribute to her late grandmother.

On Friday morning, Hailey posted an old photo of her late grandmother.

“Yesterday at 5:52pm my beautiful Grandma Carol Baldwin, the matriarch of the Baldwin family completed her journey here on earth,” she wrote in the caption. “Today I celebrate her, the life she lived, and the legacy she leaves behind. We love you. ??”

Many fans took a moment to express their condolences. Kahlea Baldwin called her “an absolute legend.”

“Beautiful words,” wrote one fan. “Sending prayers to you and your family.”

“Im So sorry ❤️ ? sending you all light & prayers. Love you family,” another commented.

“Sorry for you loss buba. Sending you so much love & light ??” said another.

“She was such a strong lady,” another wrote. “May her soul rest in peace ??”

In his own Instagram post, Alec paid tribute to his late mother by recalling the milestones in her life.

“It is with the deepest regret that my family posts the following statement,” he began. “Carol M. Baldwin, mother of actors Alec, Daniel, William and Stephen Baldwin and two daughters, Elizabeth and Jane, died today in Syracuse, New York. She was 92.”

He provided a brief snapshot of her life, explaining that she was “Born Carol Newcomb Martineau, in Syracuse on December 15, 1929.” He wrote that “she was the child of Roy and Marion Martineau and had one brother, Daniel, and five sisters, Patricia, Joan, Diane, Louise and Rebecca.”

Alec wrote, “She met her future husband, Alexander R. Baldwin Jr., of Brooklyn, NY, while both attended Syracuse University. In 1954, Alec, as the father was also called, moved the family to Long Island where he taught history and coached football and riflery at Massapequa High School until his death, at age 55, in 1983.”

“Carol Baldwin raised her children and, when her last was a teenager, went to work in marketing research for a firm called Quick Test, operating out of a local shopping mall,” he went on.

“In 1991, she was diagnosed with breast cancer,” he continued. “After she survived, she joined with a group of Long Island-wide breast cancer support groups to launch an effort with SUNY Stony Brook. With the support of the university’s then president, Shirley Strum Kenny, the Carol M Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund was opened on the campus at Stony Brook. Another chapter was started some years later in cooperation with SUNY Upstate University. The combined efforts have raised millions of dollars for the cause.”

Alec seemed to share his own statement, writing, “My mother taught me about second acts. And third ones, too. She spent the last 25 years of her life as a fighter and a champion for the cause to which she devoted her life. We are all enormously proud of her accomplishments.”

“In addition to her six children, Carol has 25 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren,” he concluded. “Information regarding memorial arrangements will be forthcoming.”

Many fans expressed condolences for the late Baldwin matriarch.

His current wife, Hilaria, also posted an Instagram photo of Alec sitting around a small fire, looking pensive, shortly after his initial Instagram post.

In the caption, she wrote, “She lives on in you, her other babies, their babies…our babies…in all of those who loved her and knew her big heart. Rest In Peace, Carol M. Baldwin ?”
