Johnny Depp Insists He 'Never' Abused Amber Heard In Final Testimony

Actor Johnny Depp and ex-wife Amber Heard continue to make headlines as the trial approaches closing arguments on Friday.

The couple has been facing each other at the Fairfax County Circuit Court for most of the past month. The “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor is suing his ex-wife for $50 million over a December 2018 op-ed Heard wrote for the Washington Post where she claims that she is a domestic violence survivor. Although she did not mention Depp by name, he claims that he has lost movie roles due to the “clear implication” that he was her abuser. Heard claims that she has also been losing out on movie roles, including several scenes from the upcoming “Aquaman” sequel, and is countersuing for $100 million dollars.

On Monday, Depp was supposed to be called to the stand by Heard's legal team. However, they later changed their minds and Depp will not testify. However, Depp's team called Kate Moss to the witness stand first thing on Wednesday morning. Her testimony was followed by Dr. Curry, who testified that she did not believe Heard to have PTSD.

After a morning break, Johnny Depp was back on the stand to deny allegations made by Amber Heard regarding abuse and his drug use.

Things were contentious right off the bat between Depp and Heard's attorney, Ben Rottenborn. When Rottenborn said that Depp was asking for drugs after he lost the tip of his finger from Australia, Depp said that he might have asked for a teddy bear as well.

Rottenborn pressed Depp on his claims that Heard had thrown a vodka bottle with a handle; however, it could not be found in the photo. Rottenborn also pressed Depp on his testimony earlier in the day where he said there was no wall-mounted phone. However, Rottenborn pulled up Depp's testimony from the U.K. libel case against The Sun, where Depp discussed the wall-mounted phone at length.

Ben Rottenborn also brought out several text messages that included graphic sexual depictions, including a text message that said "I need, I want, I take." However, Depp denies ever writing that text message.

Rottenborn accused Depp of trying to get Heard fired from "Aquaman" after she filed the temporary restraining order against him.

Depp said, "I can't please you with a yes or no every single time." When pressed for a yes/no answer, Depp snapped, "The answer's no."

Rottenborn showed Depp a text message between him and his sister on June 4, 2016. In the text message, Depp wrote that he wanted "her" replaced in that "WB film." Rottenborn alleged that Depp then reached out to Greg Silverstein "to get him to get Amber fired from Aquaman."

Depp repeatedly would not answer the question with a yes/no answer. When pressed, he finally said "No."

In another text message, Depp allegedly wrote that he had "no fear" and "no emotion" towards Heard, along with some other choice words, including calling her a "cum-guzzler."

"I can only hope karma comes and takes the gift of breath from her," Rottenborn read for the jury.

Rottenborn also said that Depp already had a chance to tell his story in the U.K. trial before he wrapped questioning.

Depp explained that he had sued The Sun for calling him a "wife-beater" and said that the U.K. had "different laws" and a different way they handled things and that "limitations" on the evidence prevented him from telling his story.

Depp then said that he had sent those angry text messages about Amber Heard because he was upset with Heard for the allegations of abuse that she had made against him.

When asked about trying to get Warner Bros. to fire Amber Heard, Depp said that he felt it was his "responsibility to get the truth" to them about what they would "end up facing down the line."

At the conclusion of his questioning, Depp insisted that he "never" physically abused Amber Heard. That wrapped up Depp's time on the stand. Closing arguments are scheduled for Friday, at which point it will be handed over to the jury.
