Fans Wish Sir Ian McKellen A Happy 83rd Birthday!

Sir Ian McKellen is now officially 83 years old!
The English actor was born on May 25, 1939, in Burnley, United Kingdom. The 5’11” actor has won many accolades for both his theater and film roles over the years, which include the “Lord of the Rings” and “X-Men” franchises.
In 1980, McKellen was knighted in the 1980 New Year Honors for services to the performing arts. He was also made a Companion of Honor for services to drama and equality in the 2008 New Year Honors. In 1988, McKellen came out as gay and has been a champion for LGBTQ+ social movements around the globe. In October 2014, he was awarded the Freedom of the City of London for his activism.
