A Russian war dog has a new home in the arms of the enemy.

Well, I’m sure the dog doesn’t see Ukrainian soldiers as an enemy anymore, but the former Russian special forces dog has made alliances with Ukraine.

The dog, named Max, is a Belgian Malinois and was working with Vladimir Putin’s troops before being senselessly abandoned.

According to the Daily Star, Max was found starving and close to death in an area of Ukraine which has seen mass devastation.

The Malinois was found by a local Ukrainian family and nursed back to health. He was given to Ukrainian troops to assist in sniffing out unexploded mines.

When Max was found, he had a Russian military dog camouflage collar around his neck.

He is being taught Ukrainian commands. The war dog’s story was shared on the National Guard of Ukraine’s Facebook page.

National Guard fighter ‘Dmytro’ said, “Max is in excellent physical shape. He knows all the basic commands. So far, he understands teams only in the language of the occupiers, but Ukrainian language classes have already begun."

Dmytro added, “From now on, Max will serve on the right side, defending Ukraine and nibbling Russian a**es.”

One soldier spoke highly of Max and the companionship he has lent to the troops.

“We can’t understand why the Russians would leave behind such a lovely animal. Ukrainians love dogs, they regard them as part of the family,” he said.

The Belgian Malinois is a fiercely loyal breed; however, one British special forces soldier noted Max has grown “tremendously loyal” to Ukrainian soldiers.

Max Will Now Be Nibbling On Russian A**es

“Max has obviously been convinced that the Ukrainians are now his new masters,” he explained, “Malinois are the same breed used by the SAS and the SBS. They are brave, highly intelligent and athletic animals.”

The National Guard’s Facebook page read, “From now on, the Mykolaiv National Guards have a trophy dog with the nickname "Max". The shepherd belonged to the occupiers of the Rosgvardíí жа, who captured one of the villages of the Nikolaev region and when during the liberation of the territory they were crushed by Ukrainian defenders - all the dogs ran into the village. One of the families took in Max.”

The statement continued, “We are very grateful to the family for which the question of passing the dog to the Ukrainian military or selling for a kruglenʹku amount as they were offered - did not stand at all!”
