Stephanie McMahon Taking Time Off From WWE

“As of tomorrow, I am taking a leave of absence from the majority of my responsibilities at WWE. WWE is a lifelong legacy for me and I look forward to returning to the company that I love after taking this time to focus on my family.” These were the words shared from Stephanie McMahon on her Twitter on May 19th, 2022.

This comes both as a major surprise and maybe something that should have been suspected after her husband fell ill and almost died from major heart issues late last year.

Stephanie McMahon who is married to WWE executive and WWE Hall of Famer, Paul 'Triple H' Levesque, who has recently suffered from a cardiac incident and other heart issues in 2021 underwent procedures to have a defibrillator put in his chest. Which is now responsible for his in-ring retirement, but could it also be the reason that McMahon wants to spend more time with her family?

Levesque was choked up talking about his heart incident telling Stephen A Smith on Stephen A’s World, “Basically, the way your heart pumps out 55-65% of your ejection fraction is a good number. I was at 30 and I got a quick text message saying, ‘Don’t take time. Pack a bag real quick, and head to the emergency room. I’ll fill you in on the way.”

Levesque also teared up on how this incident has changed his life and how he wants to move forward with life with his family saying about his life with McMahon and their children, “We have three young girls — 15, 13, 11. Suddenly I come home, I’m a little bit sick, and their dad, who’s strong always, suddenly is in the hospital. And I don’t know if they understood the consequences of it but there are moments when there when they’re putting you out for stuff and you think ‘Is this it?’ Do you wake up from this?” he asked, beginning to tear up. “That’s tough to swallow, and it makes you think differently." Very heavy feelings and words were double-downed when Triple H added, "I was nose-diving, and sort of at the one-yard line of where you don’t want to be for your family and your future.”

With all that, Levesque made sure to confirm his retirement from any future matches saying, “As far as in-ring, which I get a lot, I’m done,” he said. “I will never wrestle again. First of all, I have a defibrillator in my chest, and it’s not a good idea for me to get zapped on live TV.”

All of this took a toll on him and must have taken a toll on his wife and kids, making the announcement from McMahon today have some clarity and be a potential reason for her current leave of absence.
