Actor Johnny Depp and ex-wife Amber Heard continue to make headlines as the trial continues.
The couple is facing each other at the Fairfax County Circuit Court. The “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor is suing his ex-wife for $50 million over a December 2018 op-ed Heard wrote for the Washington Post where she claims that she is a domestic violence survivor. Although she did not mention Depp by name, he claims that he has lost movie roles due to the “clear implication” that he was the “Aquaman” actress’ abuser. Heard is countersuing for $100 million dollars.
Heard finished up her time on the stand yesterday and her friend, producer iO Tillet Wright, took the stand to testify in Heard's defense. On Wednesday morning, Heard's former friend Rocky testified to injuries Heard allegedly sustained at Depp's hands. Immediately after, her former husband Josh Drew testified via video deposition, saying that Heard did not want to file a restraining order to "protect" Depp. Heard's sister, Whitney Henriquez, also testified that Depp once hit her.
Amber Heard's Friend Had A 'Scary' Encounter With Johnny Depp In L.A. Penthouse
A friend of Amber Heard’s former friend, Raquel “Rocky” Pennington, Elizabeth Marz, testified via video deposition on November 26, 2019.
In the video that was played for the jury, Marz recalled her “scary” encounter with Depp on May 21, 2016, in one of his L.A. penthouses.
She described Depp as both “sloppy” and “combative” as he “burst” into one of the penthouses with his two bodyguards behind him. Marz testified that Depp was spilling wine as he shouted “Get that b---- out of her.”
Marz told the jury that she felt that Depp was “charging” at her and quickly went around Depp to leave. She said that after the “frightening” encounter, she went and hid in the communal gym and pool area until she got a text from Rocky telling her to go to the penthouse. She told the jury that she hid because she “didn’t know what he would do,” referring to Depp.
Once there, she testified that Heard was “disheveled” and that her hair was a mess. She testified that Heard’s face was red but that Heard also had “marks” on her face that were not present when she spent time with Heard earlier in the day. Marz said that the bruises that Heard sustained that day were the same as the ones shown in the photo above.
Heard’s Make-Up Artist Melanie Inglessis Takes The Stand
To prepare for her appearance on James Corden's show, Heard's make-up artist Melanie Inglessis testified that she had used concealer to cover up the bruises on her face on a pre-recorded video deposition from February 2, 2021.
Melanie said that Heard did not regularly use the color peach, but that she needed to use it to counteract the blue discoloration on her face, notably around her eyes and on her nose. She said that Heard "had" to use a bold red color to disguise the injury on Heard's lip, which she described as a "split lip." Melanie said that Heard "performed" while on the show, but before she went on stage, she described her mood as "angry" and "sad."
She got irate at the suggestion that she should remember the shade or the brand that she used on Heard at the time.
Melanie also told the jury that Amber Heard had a lip injury and a chunk of hair missing from the fight on December 16, 2015, and she knew "because she showed it to us." She stated that Heard wavered in periods where she wanted to divorce Depp and when she didn't.
Melanie also insisted that she knew that Heard had bruises because she was the one who had been covering them up. In another photo, Melanie denied that the dark marks under Heard's eye were "eyeshadow." On April 21, 2015, the night of Heard's 30th birthday dinner, Melanie told the jury that Heard told her about the abuse but could "not recall" what Heard had said or if Heard had any visible injuries about the time.
She did recall that Heard was "very distraught" and "very confused if she should file or not for divorce." Heard was reported to be "really sad and angry and all of it." Melanie said she actually "physically" took Heard's phone so she would not have contact with Depp. She assumes Heard filed for divorce the next day "and that's when that circus started."
Melanie testified that she supported Heard's position to file for divorce.
Kristy Sexton, Acting Coach For Amber Heard, Takes The Stand
The last time Kristy Sexton worked with Amber Heard was on "Aquaman" in 2017. She provided her deposition on December 18, 2019.
Kristy testified that Heard cried regularly throughout her marriage to Johnny Depp. Kristy told the jury that she had to “block out time cushions” around Heard’s classes because “she would be sobbing when we started and we couldn’t work.”
She told the jury that Heard was crying in “80 to 90 percent” of their classes together. She also testified to hearing arguments between the couple.
